Jane's Addiction - 2/20/89

Smokin' show.

Roger Waters - 3/14/07 Santiago, Chile

Great sounding radio broadcast.

The arrangements on some of the songs are noticeably different from the 01-02 tour. Set the Controls was awesome with layered solos and a different drum cadence.

Weird pacing to the setlist though with In the Flesh>Mother>Set the Controls>Shine On>Have a Cigar>Wish You Were Here. Like Roger pulled from a hat for the order.

I saw this tour the fall before in Chicago on a blustery rainy night. The tour featured DSOTM played in it's entirety and surround sound. Also featured Sheep, which I really wanted to see (hear) live after Dogs was so good on the tour before. Was a good show but the only specific memory I have is the inflatable pig getting out of its tethers and floating off into the windy night sky. Oops!

EDIT: Had to skip Perfect Sense parts 1 & 2 and Leaving Beirut. I actually like Roger performing the old songs better than David (although I still love David's versions too) but his solo work including The Final Cut grates on my freaking nerves. Ugh.

Luckily the rest of this show is all Floyd tunes.

Rush - 11/20/78 Tucson

By-Tor>Xanadu = MIND BLOWN

Geddy has to keep telling the crowd to move back or the stage will collapse and kill lots of people.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

AXS channel occasionally shows concerts (sometimes live). Tonight it's Darius Rucker at Red Rocks. I have to admit, even his "twangy" stuff is not bad. Not that I'd buy any of it, but it's passable for white noise in the background.

Edit: he just busted out "Family Tradition" by Hank Jr. Wow.

Yesterday, I was listening to The Pogues: Rum, Sodomy And The Lash.

Grant Lee Buffalo - Mighty Joe Moon.
Big Head Todd - Midnight Radio

Grant-Lee Phillips and Todd Park Mohr are so underrated imho, and neither have killed anyone despite their names.

There may be better versions out there, but dammit Shannon Hoon was too short on this Earth:

Darius Rucker no longer exists, in my mind. He's dead to me.

For anyone that likes Southern Rock, do yourself a favor and check out Blackberry Smoke.

bbdl is all butt-hurt about Darius covering that beyond crappy song "Wagon Wheel," and now holds a grudge against Darius.

I hold a grudge against him coz Hootie sucked arse.

They were an okay pop-rock group, IMO. He does have a good voice. Personally, I liked his pop rock more than this twang stuff, but I don't like twang in general.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I like Darius Rucker. Better than he was with Hootie. His version of Wagon Wheel is good, but nowhere near as good as Old Crow Medicine Show's....

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

The first Skid Row album. Such a great guilty pleasure.

I'll have to make amends for this in a bit. :p Mudhoney sounds good, since someone mentioned them towards the end of the last thread.
