Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

This is a video my band did last year:

The same band is playing our last show of the year tonight, then we're going to write some new music and hopefully release something next year.

As for what I'm listening to, I feel another Porcupine Tree phase coming on...

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Grateful Dead - 7/7/89 Philadelphia

That went so well, now 7/4/89 from Buffalo

Summertime, come and gone, my oh my... :)

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

So my wife got control of the iPod port on the deck over the weekend and played her music while we lounged.

She generally has good taste if not as broad as mine, so I don't mind hearing her collection.

She played a song called Royals by Lorde. I'm sure most of you have heard it already but I don't ever listen to the radio, so it was new to me. Very cool song. Interesting structure and great harmonies.

Listening to her EP "The Love Club" right now.

Today's drive home. Disc one from New Order's Substance

It doesn't get any lovelier than this.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

I need to get me some shows from '77.

Must spread...

If you're good with mp3s, rep me your address and I'll send you a dvd (data) full of '77 shows that you can transfer into iTunes.

No worries, I'm happy to share.

I have (I believe) every Dead show that's out on soundboard from every year. They're all in mp3 format, but that doesn't bother me. Got them from a Head who compiled them.

Have a bunch (several hundred) of lossless also on cdrs, but I honestly can't tell any difference sound-wise.

Anyway, up to you.

Oh yeah, probably have all of the 89s you were at too.

Blue Rodeo's The Things We left Behind. Probably their best album since James Gray left.

Puddle of Mudd

Albums 2-4 on shuffle

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Found a mix-CD I made during my first year at NMU. Lots of punk (NOFX, Rancid, Pennywise), Primus, The Offspring, and some pop.

Found another CD I made during my second year at NMU: mostly popular music. Granted, I did put "Pictures Of You" by the Cure on there, as well as "In the Waiting Line" by Zero 7, but it was poppy.

After I graduated, my mix CDs were mostly what was played on the alternative stations.

Now, 7 years after college, I wonder if I've taken my playlists right out of Pitchfork. Lots of Radiohead, Arcade Fire, She Wants Revenge, Interpol, etc.

No Age - An Object - this is one of the newer bands that give me hope for rock music

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Alberta Cross- Broken Side of Time and Songs of Patience. Both very solid albums, and I'm eager to see what they release next

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Was listening to Frank Sinatra yesterday while canning tomatoes.

Thought the 14 year old son was gonna die. Eventually he declared that he was going to his room to blast dub-step.

See ya! :D

The Verve - 8/6/98 New York

Really nice audience recording. Band sounds great.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Aerosmith - 8/29/75 Central Park

Oh yeah!

EDIT: Just realized that this was 38 years ago TODAY. I was 5.

Re: USCHO Music Thread 2: Rock On, Amigo.

Gurt, thanks for the e-mail.

Listening to Delta Machine by Depeche Mode. Standard DM, but as a fan I can easily differentiate the album from the rest of their work. First listen drew me in, second listen has me hooked. There are moments I'm really psyched by what I'm hearing and no filler which is amazing for a record this many years into their tenure.
