I worked with a guy who when he was on shore leave happened to drink all night with Billy Idol in (checks notes) Subic Bay. He said Idol came in flanked on both sides by his body guards and about a half dozen towering ice blondes each more beautiful than the next. And that is when my friend realized that Billy Idol, who is always listed at around 5-9, is in fact about 5 foot 1.I saw DEVO and Billy Idol, what a hoot DEVO was. I'd see them again. Billy Idol sings a wee bit lower then he used to but he had back up singers that picked up the hard parts. Not really a fan of Billy but it was a good show also.
It's almost like the lead guy in any given band has gotta be a fuckin male diva at some point.Throwing Copper, Live. Yes the band and their fans are problematic but the album is still pretty solid. No skips.
So...if Rob Halford was straight?I worked with a guy who when he was on shore leave happened to drink all night with Billy Idol in (checks notes) Subic Bay. The radio already refers to Nirvana and Alanis Morrisette as "oldies" and "classics." The day is fast approaching when Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and the Spice Girls join those categories.
They didn't really make a mark until 96-97 with "Wannabe" and the Spice World movie. The Spice Girls started in 1994. They aren't Oldies, they're Decrepits.
At my Ghetto Fry's last Saturday, I heard "Lost in the Supermarket" and it took all of my willpower not to just end it right there next to the kumquats.I'm now hearing Wannabe in the grocery store.
