USCHO Music: From Queen to The Beatles to Lady Gaga

Kid A, OK Computer, and... The Bends? In Rainbows?

I would put one of those 4 in my top 100 albums of all time, depending on my mood. Helluva run.

Your first 3 are my first 3 and we're probably not alone, although I'm probably in the minority having The Bends as my clear #1. There's not a song on the album I skip no matter when I listen, whereas I'm not always in the mood for KA or OKC start to finish.

My top 3 are OK Computer, Hail to the Thief, and Kid A.

(When I was recovering from under eating and being dangerously skinny, Hail was my support album.)

My preferred mode of listening is Pandora with rotation by artist, so you get the full catalog over time. Yorke is an interesting cat.

Brian Eno had a baby with Thomas Dolby.

Radiohead are OK. Never really understood why people get stiff for them like I do for Soundgarden or King's X, but that's typical. I have the same attitude towards U2.

NEW YORK (AP) — Five years after their influential drummer and lyricist Neil Peart died of glioblastoma, the Canadian band Rush have announced a reunion tour.

On Monday, Rush co-founders Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson revealed a 12-date, seven city tour is scheduled for summer 2026, kicking off in June at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles — where the band played their final show in 2015.

The reunion tour will end in Cleveland in September 2026. They’ll also hit Mexico City, Fort Worth, Texas, Chicago, New York and Toronto.

Taking Peart’s place is celebrated German composer and producer Anika Nilles. She has previously toured with Jeff Beck.
Is the lady from Rush rejoining the band as well?

I wonder how many music fans that don't like U2 started learning of them after Bono went ultra-rock star douche and say with the start of the Zooropa and/or Pop albums.

I was aware of them from Day 1 and imho Boy, War, October, Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum and Achtung Baby are untouchable. Mostly a miss after that but I would also argue that All You Can't Leave Behind and How To Dismantle... are right proper albums.

TIL Fab Five Freddy's godfather was Max Roach.

Now I feel homesick.

Well. A little.

Very few 3 chord acts are as satisfying as the Cars. Others that come to mind: Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, and the Ramones. Others?

The Stooges and Sex Pistols don't count as they are zero chord bands.

Which I guess makes Beefheart a square root of negative one chord band.

If The Beatles broke up today their first album would have been released in 2018. They advanced music more in that 7 years than it has for at least the past 40 years

And holy fuck the brand loyalty.

The Scientology of the music industry.
