USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Nope. No story on the front page. Sick of this yet? Just admit you were wrong and let's move on. Or if it makes you feel better, admit there was a misunderstanding.

No Genaway story on the front page.
You didn't predict UVM to beat BC in the HE semis.
Vermont accepts 25% of their applicants.

Any other gems you want to throw in there?

Anything else you want to make up? How can you be a coach? With the amount of stuff you make up and the number of deluisons you have I wouldn't be caught dead leaving you in charge of my kids. Whoever you coach, Dept of Child Services needs to be investigating their parents.

Sorry I see the part about being a teacher now. That explains it. I mean the dumbing down of America is a well documented fact now. Thanks for contributing.

I know, jcarter, its not true because in your world it's not. Who told you about UVM's fictional acceptance rate that you posted? Was it "Bigfoot" or did you see it in a crop circle?

Weird. It's there now. It was a few days ago too. Maybe it just disappeared while you went looking for it this afternoon? I hope someone can take a screen print of the front page and circle the thing for you and upload and post for you. I think most toddlers can navigate a webpage better than you can

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Fair enough on the coverage of the IIFH Worlds. It starts tomorrow, let's wait until then? I'd be willing to bet (insert BC gambling joke here) that they'll cover it and it will be the headline story.

I'm not sure about that. I can't remember USCHO covering the Worlds (or the Stanley Cup) before (although my memory isn't always the best). They do cover the World Juniors in pretty good depth, probably because there are many current NCAA players involved. The NHL and Worlds have merely former college players. Might make an interesting story, but not worth resources when all of the writers are on summer break. I do think they literally have the off-season off from writing. We're lucky anyone is actually getting paid to administer the site at all at this time of year.

Steve you really make it tough for me to honor my new pledge not to resort to personal attacks, because you are certainly just throwing buckets of material here.

But, I will simple state once again that yes you are correct there are in fact links on the front page of the USCHO website that cover some of these stories.

I will kindly remind you that a link on the front page does not constitute a story, especially when the link doesn't even go to a story persay but rather a news wire compilation or a link to an outside news agency as in some of those links that you point.

My point was not even so much those particular stories but simply the lack of change in stories. Those were examples. And again yes I realize there are links there on the front page, and simply IMO a link does not constitute a story.

But I appreciate the time you took pointing that out to me. I know you must be a busy guy.

Slasher,

Just to clarify,

I never said there was no Genoway story there. In fact I ignored that post. That would be your first mistake.

I never denied predicting that UVM would win in the finals. Someone at some point attibuted me stating that UVM would win. I also explained on that thread at that time that it was a prediction and what I was taking exception to was that idea that I stated it as if I was some cocky BC student. It was a prediction, and that I do not deny. So again you are wrong in that I do not deny that I predicted UVM to beat BC in the semi finals 3-1 if I'm not mistaken. I was in turn wrong with my prediction.

Finally, the VT acceptance rate, I really don't remember that entire dialogue, but I do remember I was wrong on part and correct in part. But for argument's sake let's just pretend that I was completely wrong and you are correct in that part of your post. 1 for 3 not too shabby.

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Quick question:

If you're reading the front page of a newspaper, and in the side column, there's a one line blurb followed by dotdotdots and a page number, is that a story?

IMO, a web link is shorthand for a newspaper "go to this page" reference: click the link=turn the page.

One sentence doesn't make a story. I think they teach that in Kindergarten...

And I almost hate myself for sticking up for that guy...

And REGARDLESS of whether those links on the side are "front page" stories, they don't come with pictures, which is obviously the focus of the thread, "USCHO Front Page Picture / Story". C'mon, don't give a kid grief just 'cause he needs a picture! :p
