USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

It was a link . . .

. . . to a story . . .

. . . on the front page when you go to USCHO.com.

Even the full lead story isn't the whole story, you have to click, "read more", which links you to the rest of the story.

Why are we bothering?

And a link on the front page is not a story/picture on the front page. We are bothering because CreepF has made it an issue. Its sad that some people can't just actually discuss the topic at hand.

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Clearly you too can not tell the difference between a story and a link.

i'm not going to get involved in the semantical argument of what constitutes a link vs a story. i'll leave that gay banter to you and papagiorgio. but i just wanted to point out that your initial complaint was the lack of coverage of the "stories"

It's terrible I agree.

Where's the story on the BU guys getting tossed? The BC guys getting in trouble?

I think USCHO takes the summer off.

so now once proved that they indeed covered the events (and timely), you have changed your complaint to they didnt change the picture.

so, to recap, even though they wrote articles and posted links (on the front page, even); simply because they didn't change the picture constitutes 'taking the summer off'?

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Yea, clearly changing the picture on the front to be of the mangled jeep the BC students were in would have been appropriate for a college hockey website. I'm sure that's what college hockey fans want to see as the top story and front page picture. Maybe mugshots of the Notre Dame players that got arrested a few days later. You know... THEY SHOULD COVER THIS STUFF!!

And that would also be considered a personal attack. You have been warned that if you continue to make homophobic references and personal attacks you will be reported.

yes, personal attacks will not be tolerated....except....

by you:

What a doochebag. You forum stalk me just looking and searching for some type of error in one of my posts so you can point it out. I mean really?

I don't point out errors in your posts, come on.

Ask BC for a tuiton refund because judging by you two moron's Athletics is the only thing they excel at.

????? grammatically awkward. please see me after class

That's entirely false. I never changed my complaint. The so called complaint was an agreement that they don't update the front page frequently during the summer and that there were other news stories that could be posted as a story on the front page. The rest was your assertion.

No, but the lack of coverage during the summer does. Those links.....they aren't stories even written by USCHO. Some guy gets a bunch of wire articles and pastes them together. So yes, they are taking the summer off. I'm not saying I don't understand why, just that as a college hockey fan I crave info during the offseason and I would like it if I could see stories of other hockey events that are occuring during the summer.

I have in fact engaged in that behavior and I am no longer going to stoop to your level. In the future I will simply click the abuse button.

In all seriousness my apologies for any and all previous comments of the nature.

Right because staring at the same picture of the Alaska bench is so much more exciting.........

What's inappropriate about a mugshot of an alleged criminal? Or the wrecked jeep (mangles is a bit much)? Not like you can't google it and see it all over the internet? Why are those in appropriate??

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

Not like you can't google it and see it all over the internet?

So if you can google it, why are you complaining that it isn't here?

Why are those in appropriate??

Do you really need to ask? You really have something wrong with you if you think it's appropriate.

This is a college hockey website. Because some players got into a crash doesn't make it a headline story. It's not even really relevant to the college hockey world. I sure as heck don't want to see mugshots of kids or wrecked jeeps, whether they are BC players or Notre Dame players or players for any other team. Let's keep it relevant.

How about a story on the Worlds?

I'm complaining there isn't a change. I offered up suggestions, you are just defensive about the BC incident and choose to focus on that , but you may have noticed the part about a story on the worlds as well. It's not a BC thing, it's a change the story thing.

I think coverage of college hockey players off season is relevant. It shouldn't matter if it 's coverage of "good' deeds done on ice during the season or off ice during the off season. It is relevant to some in the college hockey world. Sweeping stuff under the rug isn't really an appropriate thing to do, even if it is BC.

Fair enough on the coverage of the IIFH Worlds. It starts tomorrow, let's wait until then? I'd be willing to bet (insert BC gambling joke here) that they'll cover it and it will be the headline story.

They'll change it when something relevant happens I'm sure.

Again, nothing to do with BC or sweeping anything under the rug. Which is why I offered the Notre Dame example. I think if you polled college hockey fans here, 90% or more would say they don't want to see a picture of a crashed jeep or mugshot pictures (perhaps excluding extreme circumstances where it could be a huge story, like the UVA lacrosse murder if it were to happen in this sport) on the front page of the website. They still covered it. It's just not headline news for the sport, it doesn't reflect well on the sport, and like I said, I highly doubt many people want to see that crap (aside from you of course!).

Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story

The issue I take with this is that the BC accident was covered. It was reported (and flamed about), and discussed at length. We all know it happened. I don't think pictures belonged here; it's bad enough everybody knows their names -- and they deserved that much, I guess -- but if everybody knows what they look like, those kids could end up with years of ridicule and embarrassment. They deserve punishment, sure, but that's not to be left up to internet readers and casual passersby.

As far as its relevance to college hockey; I'd want to know about it. Then, after Mr York makes his decision, I'd like to know if those players will miss games. Who knows, if they do, maybe UNH can improve their oh-so-impressive winning record against BC ***in the regular season*** lol

There aren't any relevent topics at all since the WCHA decided to tweak the tournament??

There's this little tourney going on right now for silly trophy named Lord something or another where I hear a few former college players are competing. That might be an interesting story.

Or a preview of the worlds, or a preview of the draft.........

There are plenty of things they could talk about if they wanted to. Thats all I'm saying.

Dude, the thread title was Front Page Story/picture.

They could have pulled a picture of BC holding the freaking NC trophy and then wrote an article and that would have qualified. A link on the side of the page that they didn't write isn't a front page story.

As for other pictures, any picture on the front page of a newspaper is acceptable to me. But I do understand your point of reflecting the sport. It's a fine line between acknowledging an event in an attempt to address the issue and making yourself look bad.
On the other hand I don't think USCHO is followed by the average person or even the average college student.

And while these events with BC/BU have been covered in the HE related threads I wonder how many other college hockey fans had heard about it. I hadn't heard the ND story and will go check on it now. Had USCHO put up a front page story that would have been usefull. JMO.

Nope. No story on the front page.

Weird. It's there now. It was a few days ago too. Maybe it just disappeared while you went looking for it this afternoon? I hope someone can take a screen print of the front page and circle the thing for you and upload and post for you. I think most toddlers can navigate a webpage better than you can.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever Nick.
I'm not going to argue with you over your ignorance of what a link is, what a story is, and what a compilation of press releases is.

Most toddlers aren't that stubborn and thickheaded.

Good Day.
