Re: USCHO Front Page Picture / Story
Fair enough on the coverage of the IIFH Worlds. It starts tomorrow, let's wait until then? I'd be willing to bet (insert BC gambling joke here) that they'll cover it and it will be the headline story.
They'll change it when something relevant happens I'm sure.
There aren't any relevent topics at all since the WCHA decided to tweak the tournament??
There's this little tourney going on right now for silly trophy named Lord something or another where I hear a few former college players are competing. That might be an interesting story.
Or a preview of the worlds, or a preview of the draft.........
There are plenty of things they could talk about if they wanted to. Thats all I'm saying.
Again, nothing to do with BC or sweeping anything under the rug. Which is why I offered the Notre Dame example. I think if you polled college hockey fans here, 90% or more would say they don't want to see a picture of a crashed jeep or mugshot pictures (perhaps excluding extreme circumstances where it could be a huge story, like the UVA lacrosse murder if it were to happen in this sport) on the front page of the website. They still covered it. It's just not headline news for the sport, it doesn't reflect well on the sport, and like I said, I highly doubt many people want to see that crap (aside from you of course!).
Dude, the thread title was Front Page Story/picture.
They could have pulled a picture of BC holding the freaking NC trophy and then wrote an article and that would have qualified. A link on the side of the page that they didn't write isn't a front page story.
As for other pictures, any picture on the front page of a newspaper is acceptable to me. But I do understand your point of reflecting the sport. It's a fine line between acknowledging an event in an attempt to address the issue and making yourself look bad.
On the other hand I don't think USCHO is followed by the average person or even the average college student.
And while these events with BC/BU have been covered in the HE related threads I wonder how many other college hockey fans had heard about it. I hadn't heard the ND story and will go check on it now. Had USCHO put up a front page story that would have been usefull. JMO.
