USCHO Dead Pool

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

huskyfan probably gets the most value out of a pick by picking Doloris Hope who is 101 years old and worth 39 points.

Nelson Mandela, Phyllis Diller and Zsa Zsa Gabor are all worth negative points, since more than 1 person picked them.

I thought those over 90 were ineligible. I had a couple in the 90+ category I would have picked and likely been alone, now that I see the entries.

Surprised I was unique with several of my sports category picks.

Any bonus points awarded to someone whose entry in the pool is the first to be "taken down" from our big list ?

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I can't believe that I'm the only one to pick Barbara Walters and JoePa...

That's because you're a fool for thinking that JoePa can be killed.

This is also why Keith Richards, and Ozzy Osbourne didn't make my list.

However, if you've spent time around Ozzy, you were more likely to be on my list. (See: Bill Ward and Zakk Wylde)

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I thought about JoePa, but he's sort of like the Keith Richards of coaches. That said, he's still a better pick than Keith himself. :p

Speaking of rockers, aparch's Slash pick becomes more interesting with his recent filing for divorce. I could easily see him headed back to the whiskey bottle before long.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I think the value in Keith Richards comes in the fact that he's "only" 66. You take one look at him and he looks like he's 90.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I love this Mel Kiper like breakdown of picks. I had 5-10 more names I forgot about after I submitted. I can't believe I was the only one who picked Tina Louise or Jeff Conaway.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

If I had to do it over again I would have picked Fred Phelps, and not just because nobody ended up having him. He was my regret after I submitted my picks.

I'm feeling good about Lyndon LaRouche kicking the bucket, though.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I'm just amazed that I wasn't the only person to think of Verne Troyer.

Wasn't he on some celeb-reality show where he got drunk and peed on his little scooter that he needed to get around the house?

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

My strategy was:

1) old people
2) people who have or had cancer
3) people with other commonly terminal illnesses
4) younger people who I could see coming to a tragic end

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I really hope that the people who selected Ke$ha end up being right. I hate her. If she does kick the bucket there should be like a 100 point karma bonus to the people who picked her for doing us all a favor.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I chose only drug abusers and sufferers of bipolar disorder who are younger than I. High risk, high reward (but still only 12 unique choices).

Head slapper: Bindi Irwin. That was a truly inspired pick and represents everything this competition is about.

I can't believe Whitney Houston is a unique pick. I have her as a stone cold lock.

Ke$ha has a strange distinction in my book:

She is so unbelievably awful, that I'm actually able to look back at other artists that I loathe and find qualities about them that I like. Ke$ha makes me appreciate Britney Spears' vocal abilities, Creed's passion, Motley Crue's ability to groove, Lady Gaga's commitment to being entertaining/weird and the way that all those boy bands could create some pretty good harmonies.

You read that correctly: Ke$ha is so terrible that she makes me appreciate Britney Spears and Creed.

I initially thought of putting either Suri Cruise, Mel Gibson's infant lovechild with that Russian chick or John Travolta's as-of-yet unborn child on my list.

I then thought "no... that is too much". That, ladies and gentlemen, is why I will not win this contest.

:D My Google searches have a few "Rocker/Celeb/Star" with "divorce/trouble/bankrupt/health" lookups in it. Now I'd just need a few of them to get back on the bandwagon within the next 365 days...

This would likely have brought up the debate as to whether unborn children are "living" yet. Not sure you want to open that can of worms.

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

Boris Yeltsin is dead already, for like 3 years.

Well, cross him off the list, then.

/Major League

Are we really sure he's dead? I mean with all that alcohol, he's got to be pretty ****ed well-preserved.
