USCHO Dead Pool

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

Actor, Cornell alumnus Harold Gould dies at age 86

Cornell News Service • September 15, 2010

Stage, television and film actor Harold Gould, M.A. '48, Ph.D. '53, died Sept. 11 in Woodland Hills, Calif. He was 86.

Born Harold Vernon Goldstein in Schenectady, in 1923, Gould earned his two graduate degrees in theater. He taught literature, speech and drama while at Cornell, later teaching at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Virginia and the University of California-Riverside, while taking some off-Broadway roles through the 1950s.

In 1960, he took a leave of absence from teaching to launch a professional acting career. That leave would last a half-century as Gould became a ubiquitous character actor, often playing fathers, grandfathers and elegant gentlemen.

OK..how many said after reading that: I should have had him. Hockey content...who knew he was a Cornell alumnus ?
After hearing about it on the radio I realized I should have looked up famous people with cancer...not aids :P

Re: USCHO Dead Pool

I didn't know, and my diploma says "Department of Theater Arts." :p

Somehow I sense your degree was a bit more recent than those of the recently departed, whose were from '48 and '53....

Names of departments change at colleges very frequently it seems, but a BA is a BA, an MA is an MA, etc.

My MPA from the University of Maine is from a Department that will be discontinued at the Orono campus and will no longer exist in two years time.

"I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike."

FWIW, that line is actually from a beastie boys song ("the new style") off their first album, licensed to ill

If I played guitar I'd be Jimmy Page

Edit: Thought we had a score, but the website pulled the story after I linked to it, apparently they reported prematurely.

Apparently Bob Barker collapsed while at a gun range, but is doing okay at home now.

When he goes I will seriously cry.

Like a no-hitter. Don't hope for it. Don't jinx it.

I need to sacrifice a live chicken...or at least bring in a bucket of KFC
