We have 18 coming for thanksgiving, our house is small, it doesn't have room for 18.not sure how big a turkey but...
If my sister is one of the eighteen, it's not how big but how many turkeys.

No brandy snaps or white chocolate raspberry thumbprints this year. Still considering gingerbread palmiers, since I let them get the best of me last year. I picked a few festive-looking ones to donate to a local housing authority for their Christmas parties. Most excited to try the gingerbread snickerdoodles.
If I am doing spaghetti and meatballs on Thanksgiving, would garlic bread sticks and a salad of some kind work as sides?
Maybe upgrade to garlic cheese sticks since it's Thanksgiving. Deck out the salad a bit, and you're good to go.
If I showed up to Thanksgiving and there was spaghetti, I'd turn around and be out the door in less than 5 seconds. Turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, green bean casserole, corn puddin', gravy over everything. Mmmmmmmmmm

Also, in my Twitter feed, I'm starting to see "healthy" (read: low-fat) Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes pop up. Since when is Thanksgiving dinner supposed to be low-fat? I thought it was a day devoted to gluttony of the highest order. You put on your sweatpants, park your butt at the table, and eat until you can't squeeze any more food into you.

About that... if I had company coming, or I were cooking for extended family, I would go traditional. However, it will be my dad and I for the fourth year in a row, and since we'll be alone, I chose the non-traditional route. And to me, spaghetti and meatballs sounded WAY more appetizing than turkey + sides for the umpteenth year in a row.
since when is Thanksgiving about spaghetti and meatballs? so you can pick one thing to change, but not another?
traditionalist here too. it's the only time of the year I eat turkey and stuffing.
but I think marshmallows on sweet potatoes are disgusting.![]()
How many times a year do you have turkey with sides? How many times a year do you have spaghetti and meatballs?
I dated a woman in college who had served in the coast guard in NY and had gotten invited to an Italian family dinner with one of her boat mates. She said they had turkey, stuffing and gravy, then brought out the pasta and pizza.
I haven't had spaghetti and meatballs at all in the last 4 years. I've had puttanesca, I've had pomodoro, but no spaghetti and meatballs. I can still devote the day to gluttony, but turkey just isn't on the menu.
you completely missed the point. I'm not picking on you for having spaghetti and meatballs. you seem to have a problem with people who may want healthier holiday recipes and at the same time, you're having a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner yourself. why is one OK, but not the other? aren't the holidays whatever you want them to be?
Warning: graphic bread porn. <a href="http://www.bonappetit.com/restaurants-travel/best-new-restaurants/article/high-street-on-market">Alex Bois appears to be some sort of god</a>. And here's his <a href="http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/roasted-potato-bread">Roasted Potato bread</a> recipe.
