USCHO Cooks: Allez Cuisine!

Re: USCHO Cooks: Allez Cuisine!

I started a batch of eggs last night. I was going to make 2 dozen, but one broke when I dropped it into the pot of water, so I ended up with 23 eggs. It sounds like they should be ready to start eating in 1-2 weeks. Now I need to go buy some good hot sauce for them.

Re: USCHO Cooks: Allez Cuisine!

Made another batch of chewy chocolate chip cookies. However, I can't seem to prevent them from turning into blobs; how do I correct this?

Re: USCHO Cooks: Allez Cuisine!

Had 2 treat occasions at work (promotion and birthday), so I brought in -

Mixed Berry Bundt Cake
Black Bottom Cheesecake Bars (with maple)
Strawberry Cupcakes (adapted from Triple Decker Strawberry Cake) - I've made it as a cake, too, and it was huuuuge. This frosting is always touchy, though. It's too bad strawberry season is already over here.
Smores Nut Bars (I don't read this website, but I have the cookbook - everything in it is awesome)

all turned out very well. Cheesecake bars and strawberry cake were my personal favorites (I hadn't made the cheesecake bars before, but the strawberry cake is a repeat). I have old bananas at home, but I'm not sure I can force Banana Espresso Chocolate Chip Muffins on them so soon.

I have this one from Zojirushi - love it. Mine's a slightly different model number, since it is older, but has the same features. They had a problem with those models and rattling pans for awhile, but I got a new pan for it, and it's better now.

Cool, Thanks, Amazon has them:D

Does anyone get the Foodzie tasting box? These were in my box a few months ago, and are the most amazing thing I've gotten - there must be a way to make them at home - Beer and Pretzel Caramels. I haven't made caramels before, but if I could make these, I would definitely try.

Did you get it? Let me know what you think. :) They are a little pricey, but if you bake bread a lot, totally worth it. The only thing I'd change is making the pan dishwasher-safe, but I guess it'd be harder to make it non-stick.

I have this one too. It works great. I like the std shaped loaf.

Re: USCHO Cooks: Allez Cuisine!

OK, I have a reason for my mind to go there... I just came back from ordering those tests all day. What is your excuse :p

Re: USCHO Cooks: Allez Cuisine!

I never knew my abbreviation for "standard" would get a few laughs. LOL. I guess when you been married for married for 18 yrs and only dated 1 girl who only dated 1 guy (me), std's are the furthest thing from your mind. :)

Re: USCHO Cooks: Allez Cuisine!

We're making stocks in my Skills 1 class at the CIM, and today we made veal stock. My instructor pulled a pan of veal bones from the oven and he allowed us to taste the marrow. And now I want more of it.

Also, my knife skills need work, to put it mildly. What are some fruits and veggies I can hack without breaking the bank?
