I don't see anything too surprising here. It'll be interesting to see how Adrian does this season after losing all those seniors.

I didn't think Adrian would be so high after losing so many seniors.

I have no doubt they will be a good team again this year and be right in the thick of it for the MCHA crown like always but thats a lot of freshmen to try and get up to speed on playing at the college level to try and repeat the success of last year's team.

I had Adrian pegged around 6th or 7th for this poll.

Re: USCHO.com Preseason Poll Released

I know i'm a Utica fan obviosuly, but they're really a team to watch this year. They did so well with over 15 freshman last year and were in the top 10 in polls at various points last season and ended up 13 in the end last year. Everyone and a few new players (including an impresive transfur from Plattsburgh) are returning this season to the team. Barring any injuries, they could make it up into the top 5 this year.

Utica is poised this year to make a run at the 2004-2005 team for best Utica team ever IMHO.

That Utica team with Dekker, Sokol, Lynch, and Ames was nasty.

Utica's always had teams with a good amount of potential. I think defections and the graduation of Adam Dekker really kicked them in the balls for a few years.

I was really impressed with their offense, and adding Adams will help the D, just don't know if it will be enough. They will have to at least split with Oswego and the Cardinal Classic to really make a case. Outside of that thier NC schedule is weak. Not sure how they would even fair on the road come playoffs either...this is why you dont play 90% of you NC games at home. Going to be an empty barn if the host an NCAA game....

Re: USCHO.com Preseason Poll Released

NCAA GAME = No Beer = A lot less fans.....
OK, we get it. You don't like Utica, their fans,or the fact that beer is served in a city run facility (that was a condition that the Aud put into the lease agreement). Ask Derek if the Aud was pretty much empty when Utica hosted the ECAC-W playoffs and Elmira and Utica went to double overtime. I am pretty sure facts don't interest you but there were 3,419 in the house that night with no alcohol served. (By the way, UC average attendance that year, 04-05, was a measly 1,463.)

That 04-05 double overtime game was one of the best atmospheres and games ive been a part of. Place was crazy.

Re: USCHO.com Preseason Poll Released

I just think we need to get over that mental hump from last year. Otherwise known as beating Oswego...finally.

We've gotten so close the past two years...we can play with them for sure, they just squeeze it out everytime.

If we play a season identical to last season and then get over that hump, i think were ideal for the NCAA Tourny.

....Oswego watch out ;)

Not sure what relevance the new Adrian lineup had to do with their ranking in this poll ?

many people who have a vote in this poll in the past have dropped teams lower in their voting based on what/who they lost from the prior years team. I believe that the year after SNC won in LP against Plattsburgh that they dropped below Plattsburgh for the first poll based on who they lost vs who Plattsburgh lost. I could be wrong on this, but I believe it to be the case.

...I think you are right, and I expected more of a drop considering there will be 16 new faces in their line-up. I expect them to be very good.....but coming out of the chute at 4th is a bit of a surprise.
