USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

Great question. I defer to bigblue_dl and zudnic.

I figured it would be something we'd want to clarify in the rulebook.

Also, I took 2 of my Free Agent Acquisitions...

FightingSioux23 ADD: Root, Jesse (F/Yale) - DROP: Knowlton, Chris (F/Denver)
FightingSioux23 ADD: Thorson, Cory (F/St. Cloud State) - DROP: Grimaldi, Rocco (F/North Dakota)

As for my snipes, I would like to take...
G Hellebuyck, Connor (G/Massachusetts-Lowell)
F Pendenza, Joseph (F/Massachusetts-Lowell)

Thank you.

I think it has always been defined as who had the most points in the regular season, so I think it is a no-reseeding situation. That's my opinion, if anyone disagrees, speak up! :p

Hellebuyck and Pendenza have been released.
Good luck.

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

I'll take for my snipes...

Kalle Kossila (F/ St Cloud State)
Josh Holmstrom (F/ Massachusetts-Lowell)

Thanks.

Released. Good luck, looking forward to next season. After my second year winning the regular season title, yet doing squat in the playoffs, I have learned a few more tricks for next years draft... I hope.

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

Picked up my snipes...

Kossila and Holmstrom,

and picked up my final two free agents...

Stu Wilson (F/ Yale)
Joey Benik (F/ St Cloud State)

Good luck FS23! It's been fun!

I picked up Hellebuyck and Pendenza, so I've completed my moves as well.

It should be a great final. You've scored the most points in the playoffs, so it will be a difficult task for me. Good luck as well. Hopefully the best GM wins, and we score a bunch of points on Thursday and Saturday and the outcome comes down to the wire.

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

FS23 4 - 1 MMH after the first game of the weekend. (If I calculated right)

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

I believe I'm up 11-3 heading into Saturday night's title game.

Here are our remaining lineups...

MadisonsMightiestHeroes
F Peca, Matthew (F/Quinnipiac)
F Wilson, Stu (F/Yale)
D Fallen, Tommy (D/Yale)
D Barron, Loren (D/Quinnipiac)

FightingSioux23
F Root, Jesse (F/Yale)
F Jones, Kellen (F/Quinnipiac)
G Hartzell, Eric (G/Quinnipiac)

I'm giving strong consideration to benching Hartzell. I don't see him giving up 5, but I think him giving up 5 is the only way I lose with just the one game left. Of course, Peca could always put up a natural hattrick and sink me regardless.

You are correct. Very, very nervous for Saturday now...

Bench him. Goalies in the playoffs are such a crapshoot, don't take the chance if you don't need to.

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

Play him. That's like taking a knee against your buddy in a game of madden when you're only up by a field goal with enough time left.

Play him. That's like taking a knee against your buddy in a game of madden when you're only up by a field goal with enough time left.

Keep in mind that: 1) I don't know my opponent, 2) This is Fantasy and the whole purpose is to score as many points as possible (I would simply be avoiding a potential negative point producer), and 3) "taking a knee" in this case could cause me to lose.

It's a difficult decision. Right now, I'm leaning towards starting him because in the event that he does give up 5 goals, there is at least a decent chance that one of those goals comes from Root, or at least an assist or two comes from Root. Moreover, Hartzell hasn't given up 5+ goals all season long, and Yale has scored 5+ only four times this season, and only twice have they put up 5+ on the same goalie. Finally, in the last 15 years, no team has scored 5+ goals on a goalie in the title game (both BC ('10) and Minnesota ('03) scored ENG to get to 5).

So, barring a change of heart, Hartzell will get the start. He deserves it, as he's been the top scorer in FCH all season long.

I'm really just busting balls. I know its a difficult decision. Just had to play the opposite side of the fence ;)

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

I had a chance to grab Miller as a snipe going into this round and I didn't take it. We would've been at 9-11 right now if I would've taken him....

Re: USCHO-3 Fantasy College Hockey League, 2012-2013 Season

Congrats FS23. Great season everybody! Can't wait for next year.
