No, I replied in jest. The rule is pretty clear, I think.
The snipe is only accessible to the team that won him, up until the drop of the puck of the first playoff game. After that, he can't be acquired, as players on all rosters of teams that have been eliminated are frozen. No one else can acquire your snipe. Your reward for winning is being able to acquire 2 good players that would not be available to you, or anyone else, in the free agent pool.
In this case, you have taken advantage of the snipe you already added to your roster (Rau), but are looking to capitalize on one player competing on Friday, then drop him and add the other snipe the next day (any easy win, IMO). My guess is the folks who made the snipe rule took this into consideration when they added snipes to the playoffs and stated you only had until the drop of the puck of the first playoff game to add the snipe to your roster (similar to the 12 hour rule for picking up free agents.)
I think you bring up some valid points, but we are in the middle of the stream and can't change horses. So, you have to decide on adding Hartzell now and get the advantage of possibly some big points on Saturday, or go with the NoDak guy. You can't take advantage of both. That's the intent of the rule, as I understand it.
