The list goes on, if you want to watch something and you have an internet connection you can.

I don't know what those are, or how they work, but even if I had found them and made them work, I'd be just as upset with NBC. Maybe I could have watched on my computer screen. I probably would have - but it wouldn't have been the same as an HD broadcast on my TV. I ended up turning off the television and checking the live box score occasionally until the game was over. My wife and kids, who were also excited to sit down on the couch and watch the game, would not have stood around the desk in the hallway staring at the 17-inch computer screen with me. As it was, they didn't watch any Olympic coverage at all.

Shows how many mindless idiots are out there that keep watching karaoke.

You call them mindless idiots, Fox calls them their core audience. :p

If they could get those numbers for Shakespeare, that's what they'd run. Unfortunately, the American TV audience gets exactly what they wanted...

Re: US Olympic Hockey - Let's Stick It To The Canucks Again!

Jim Rome this morning is ripping NBC for not having the USA-Canada game on, and MSNBC NOT having it in HiDef in some markets....."maybe the next game will be in black & white...." :p

Epic blast.

It's eye-roll time. Jim Rome blasts the lame duck coverage of hockey, despite the fact that he works for ESPN. If ABC/ESPN had the Olympics, the same thing would have happened. You would not have seen that game on ABC for the same reasons that NBC relegated it to cable. The only difference is that ESPN is more easily available in HD than MSNBC.

Criticizing NBC is fine and good, but I think the ESPN folks should think twice before opening their mouths.

Truth be told, I'm more shocked that Rome is burning NBC, instead of criticizing all those savages watching a terrible sport that doesn't belong on this planet- which is more of his M.O. for hockey.

Somehow ESPN would have justified putting it on ESPN Classic. Or even ESPNU.

FYI, NBC is planning to tape delay the remaining games if you are in the Mountain or Pacific time zones -

send them an email in protest - nbcolympicsfeedback@nbcuni.com

Oh, I read back a little and someone said that any hockey fan would have found the game. My parents aren't computer-savvy; my mom actually won't touch it and my dad doesn't naturally think of going online for answers. My mom - 76 years old, born in Alabama; lives in Memphis; been to ?3? really bad minor league games live; never been out on the ice - was extremely upset that she didn't get to watch the game. She's become a hockey fan (she actually keeps up better with the Devils than I do, because I used to force her to go to sports bars to watch their games when I visited - the only times she's been to bars in her life), but will never find it off the primary networks/ESPN for herself (I don't know how many times I've explained that if she goes to the strange numbers on her tv she can find Preds and Thrashers games). So there are hockey fans out there that aren't as smart as you.

I should correct this. The other difference is that ESPN's coverage of the game would eventually bleed over into talking about which hockey players are more "Now" and about how winning a medal might effect the Q Scores (Fame Index) for Ovechkin and Crosby.

I can just picture listening to Mike and Mike in the Morning after an ESPN-covered Olympic Hockey game. You'd have Erik Huselius subbing in for Greenberg talking about how he cares about Chris Drury more than Ryan Miller because he plays in New York City and not Buffalo. And when Greenberg came back to the studio, you'd have to listen to him come up with some crazy idea to "fix" the Games by having some exhibition game determine who gets to host the Olympics.

My girlfriend texts me the other night - says she heard there was a "big game" on that everyone was making a big deal about, and wanted to watch it, but she can't find it. She never watched a hockey game in her life except when I made her. As Al Michaels once said, "she doesn't know the blue line from a clothesline"

I told her it was on MSNBC - she watched, and was riveted. She kept saying how exciting it was.

What does that mean? I don't know - you decide :)

Good article saying that NBC's Olympic Coverage is just reality TV in a dress...

http://thesunbreak.com/2010/02/22/nbcs-olympics-coverage-its-not-sports-its-reality-tv

Here's another article specific to the issue at hand.

Oh, I read back a little and someone said that any hockey fan would have found the game. . . . So there are hockey fans out there that aren't as smart as you.

Like me. :) And I'm not a total computer idiot. I went to nbcolympics.com and found a link to their online stream. I installed their viewer on my computer and chose my satellite provider from their dropdown list. I was about to give them my account number to start the feed when I got a pop-up message saying that in order to receive the feed I would have to verify that my Dish Network package includes MSNBC. So I could watch it on my computer as long as I already had access to it on my TV. Gee thanks.

All this time the headline feature on their website's front page is the USA/Canada matchup, calling it "The Game of a Lifetime."

And like I said before, even if I could have gotten the online feed, I would have been upset. I wanted to watch it in HD on my television with my kids . . . and so did my wife, who NEVER watches hockey. She was actually talking about it for two days ahead of time, because she wanted to make sure she recorded it if the game started before we got home. She looked up the Olympic schedule online to find out when it was on.

The next time a computer asks you if you have MSNBC, you say YES!

So what's the picture look like for the US team right now? What combination of wins/losses in the play-in round would end up with us playing whom?

We play the winner of Switzerland-Belarus.

The winner of the USA/SUI-BEL game plays the winner of FIN/CZE-LAT game.

You have to give them your account number, which they use to see which subscription package you have. If your subscription doesn't include MSNBC, you don't get the feed.

It sucks, but just find someone who does and trusts you enough with their account number. I would make an extra Comcast account for a friend so they could access. Sure that gets around their dumb little protection, but it's stupid to begin with.
