US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Your overall message was loud and clear. Agree 100% with your sentiments. My response post was to poke some fun at the minor faux pas.;) It was TIC all the way. :D

I was at the game a few years ago when she stole the show when the rest of the PW 92's beat the TC 92's.

I was there as well she is truly a special player.

Don't know if has been posted previously....there was a short blurb yesterday in the St. Paul Pioneer Press sports section:

I've been to her small hometown of Siren, WI many times, as up until just recently my brother-in-law owned a lake cabin there. Driving into town I've always noticed the sign proclaiming that Siren is the home of Olympian Molly Engstrom...the people there are obviously very proud. Best of luck to her in the future.

Looking at the list of 28 players announced yesterday that have been invited to the U.S. Women's National Team training camp, which takes place later in March, there is a curious omission. No Hannah Brandt.

I was very surprised as well. What were they thinking? Last time I looked she was the second leading scorer in the country. And it's not like she's a one-way player, as she currently leads the Gophers in plus/minus at a +65 (albeit by just one over Amanda Kessel).

There are a few curious omissions...at least from the standpoint of players who were on the most recent US rosters.

No Schaus or Stack? I thought those were glaring. I figured TTT would have said something by now though. Injuries?

Stack yes. I do not know about Schaus.

That is too bad. Does that rule her out for Ottawa? I was hoping to be able to root for her for the first time.

Also Hux did you get my email?

It is baffling to me to see a 15 yr old on the roster when there are so many deserving in college AND seniors in HS. Really??? Ihate that college coaches get these jobs because ethics and doing the right thing goes out the window.

Jincy Dunne's "Future" is bright. However she is not there yet, not even close! Does USA Hockey believe that this will create passion from the female players?

Re: US National Teams: U30s & Mrs. Potter, U22s, U18s Part II

Having no knowledge of whether she has ever had a look.......how is it that Blake Bolden is not in the mix here. Having watched her this year and also being familiar with several invitees I am baffled as she is a force and head and shoulders above almost everyone on the ice every shift....

It may create demotivation with the 18-22 crowd that are missing opportunities. Jenny Potter was there too long and Jincy is there too soon. USA hockey does not impress me at all with their decisions and process. yes, Jincy is the future and so are many girls that were on the U18 team with her yet no one else has been invited. It is obvious this is a recruiting ploy for Ms. Stone and a good story!

Hannah is a phenomenal player but apparently did not have a great camp.

So apparently how you did in the last camp determines whether or not you're invited to the next camp? You would think they would give greater weight to a player's actual performance in real games since the last camp. On that score she deserves to be there.

I hope she's motivated to prove that decision incorrect this weekend, and beyond. ;)

I think you would pretty much have to have skill amnesia at a camp to have it impact making a team when 1) you have already been part of a world championship team 2) have put up eye popping numbers as a college freshman 3) put those numbers up as a linemate to another member of the National team

First post - been lurking for a while and not sure if this is the appropriate thread but I didnt see any others.

The NHL is currently negotiating with the IOC about NHL participation in future Olympics. Does anyone have any info on whether the NHL will use its leverage to protect the women's side from the possible Olympic chopping block? It seems that its something the NHL could/should do for the good of hockey in general but I have my doubts whether it would be that farsighted or philanthropic.
