US Foreign Policy: The Wogs Begin at Calais

Re: US Foreign Policy: The Wogs Begin at Calais

Macron's already courting America's scientists that will soon be left in the cold now that Trumpster is gutting the industry in the US. Remember the brain drain in the 30's that hugely benefited America during pre- and post-WWII? Think of that in reverse. We now have a wannabe fascist in charge, white evangelicals can now **** on the Constitution, and we're no longer seen as the world's leader in anything except hate and ignorance.

If the EU ever exceeds the US in the resources it provides for science, there is no reason for American scientists not to move their families to Europe. Higher quality of life, better education, not to mention a far higher and more moral public culture.

Watch the STEM universities. Right now the US (Cal Tech, MIT, Princeton, Stanford) still completely blows the rest of the world away -- it isn't even close. But that can change. Before us it was the UK, before them it was Germany, before them it was France. As the US moves inwards and downwards, the rest of the world won't stand still. We're catching a break: Chinese and Japanese are too hard to learn for roundeye plus the PRC is a human rights nightmare. But if the EU can get its act together... I rest my case.

Happening in more than France. If you're science right now you might get educated here but you don't want to work here.

Trigger word warning!!!!

Pat Buchanan questions what is the US's foreign policy?

https://www.creators.com/read/pat-buchanan/05/17/what-is-americas-goal-in-the-world

Buchanan's view of US history prior to 1990 is nonsense. Rarely has anybody with his ability to think clearly deluded themselves so badly, but he's been doing it ever since McLaughlin and he's not going to change now.

But. His view of history after 1990 is spot on. Rarely has anybody summed up better how America has lost its central premise to be a republic rather than an Empire. I recommend the piece.

Our crisis is the result the takeover of America by the 1%, who view our foreign policy as a way to goose their defense holdings and protect their oil holdings. That takeover was directly the fault of the terrible policies of Buchanan's personal hero Reagan -- it was indeed the intention of those policies. That's what happens when a bunch of rich *******s from Orange County and NYC seize the government.

But even though he's wrong about everything prior to 1990, he's right about our current dilemma. That should create the opportunity for a left-center-right alliance to finally rid us of the Empire. We can best do this by kicking the 1% to the curb. We've tried everything else since 1980. The root cause analysis is that America lost its way when it became a plutocracy, and our leaders started designing policy around protecting the stock portfolios of the super wealthy rather than protecting the lives and standard of living of the other 99% of Americans.
