Only 1 was ever built, meaning it’s more likely that you saw an AN-124 (4 engines rather than 6), but if you really did get to see it, that’s very cool. Even the -124 has more cargo capacity than a C-5 (our largest transport), and the -225 can carry almost 50% more than a -124. Insane.
 
I hope we announce a no fly zone by the end of the day. Apparently Russia has killed scores of civilians today by bombing random neighborhoods.
 
Seeing speculation that perhaps the reason the Russian military hasn't been performing well is because they can't. They lack equipment and operable planes and weapons. Speculation is that the oligarchs in charge of providing that hardware have been skimming that money off to buy yachts and Italian villas, and bribes to the military bookkeepers to show they were meeting their commitments.

Minister of Defense Serdyukhov greatly updated and modernized the Russian forces during his time there from 2007-2012, partly because he was holding those oligarchs accountable. But they bltched, and so he was fired, his people in place were replaced, and the new guy stopped pressuring the oligarchs to meet price and quality standards. In short, Putin's army has been purged of all competence, and has been filled instead with yes men.

Sounds all too familiar.

The entire flight of the Wright Flyer could have taken place in the cargo hold of the 225

or so I've read
 
You don't just announce or declare a no fly zone. There's virtually nothing in international relations you declare or announce. It's all enforced.

You don't declare a NFZ, you enforce it.
The Declaration of Independence wasn't just declared, it was enforced.

And I really, really can't make this clearer. We will not set foot in Ukraine or fly a manned mission over Ukraine unless we're fired upon, and even then I'm not entirely certain.

Because there is no war between the US/NATO and Russia that doesn't involve one side, or more likely, both and everyone else in the northern hemisphere being incinerated or dying from radiation sickness.
 
Lmao, how bad do you need to fuck up for the Swiss and Sweden to side against you?

Switzerland just announced sanctions, including financial, against Putin and Lavrov and the rest of the sanctioned companies and individuals.


edit: lol, Finland also sending supplies now.

edit 2: and the US just announced new sanction prior to market open. No transactions with the central bank of Russia will be allowed by any US citizen or company wherever they are located
