Am I crazy in thinking that TV timeouts used to be put off if a power play was starting? I was under the impression that tv timeouts didn't happen after a goal, an icing, or a penalty.

It's only during the power play that the commercials don't happen. Prior to penalty happens all the time.

EDIT: Also add the no-change situations, like hand pass in your own zone.

that penalty against Grant was from make believe land. Did the female ref make that call? perhaps she thought this was a women's game? Clean defensive play and in no way was that a cross check

Do we know if NCAA has the rule where refs can call the intermission early due to a long delay?

I didn't realize that we have a female ref.

With the second period almost history a further evaluation. Pretty similar impression as from the first period. If we do not learn how to win and then control face offs, we are going to pay dearly all season long. Some definite positives but as has been the case over the past few years, we seem to find periods of time where we lose all cohesiveness and forget that we are a team out there and just stand around waiting for the puck to come to us instead of moving quickly to the puck. it has been my impression that we just give point men too much room against us and do not come out to pressure them enough and that seems to be the case in today's game also. Still, some nice things to like about a couple of the new faces.
