So, Would I be out of line by saying that Elmira's only chance of "saving face" is to win the ECAC-W? No hope now for NCAAs.

Potsdam wins in OT 5-4, Tsekos game winner 52 seconds to go

It will take some major collapses by some of the front runners between now and selection Sunday for Elmira to even have the slightest chance. Their shot pretty much went out the door when Norwich won, tho they do get some more games against what will most likely be ranked opponents in Neumann and Utica, but even sweeping will be a long shot.

.

And Castleton shows their colors at the end.

Penalties that I saw at the end of the 3rd Period, that went uncalled:
PLT #39 Jared Docking - 2min Unsportsmanlike (Shooting after the whistle)
CST #17 Nick Lazorko - 2min Hitting After the Whistle
CST #17 Nick Lazorko - 5min Hitting from behind
CST #17 Nick Lazorko - Game Misconduct or Disqualification (result of the Hitting from Behind)

Perhaps throw in a roughing to both players as well. The Hitting after the whistle can also be a major and game misconduct, at the referee's discretion. Docking's was the THIRD instance of a flagrant shooting after the whistle penalty (the first two were both called in the first period)

Basically, Docking put the puck in the empty net after the final buzzer, Lazorko skated all the way across from the Castleton Bench and hit Docking into the boards, Docking turned to confront his attacker, and the referees then separated the two.

Yep and some of the Castleton fans were calling the Plattsburgh players Wuss's for not dropping the gloves and fighting back.

Wuss... I call it "classy" or "disciplined". But those are two terms that are clearly not in that program's vocabulary.

They were called - Docking got 10 & Lazorko got 15 - for the game Plattsburgh took 2 for 12 & Castleton 5 for 21.

He did call penalties check the box score....

Re: Updates and More for the games of Friday, 6 January 2012

I completly agree some of thier fans were not classy saying the stuff they said, like last week when AJ got hit from behind and saying he isn't hurt let them play. I can understand the little pushes in front of the net after the whistle trying to get the other player to hit them back but after the period has ended to elbow somebody in the head is classless. I feel dirty cause I routed for them against Utica if I would have known they would get this nasty for losing a game I never would have.

Re: Updates and More for the games of Friday, 6 January 2012

More grumbling about Castleton.

Good enough to be close against Norwich and Plattsburgh. Not always good enough to win.

I am a firm believer in you get what you deserve. I was at the Castleton-Norwich game last year when Castleton won in OT on 3 power play goals. Never saw them play a cleaner, more disciplined game than that night.

I saw the game this year, a Norwich win based on power play goals in period 1. Final was 3-2 Norwich...when Castleton settled down and played the way they could (should), it ended up being a superior hockey game between two talented teams.

Somehow the message isn't coming through...I didn't see the two Castleton-Plattsburgh games but it sounds that there was much of the same going on.
Win your conference tournament, you go to the NCAA's.

Win more than 80% of your games but not win the tournament, you should be seriously considered for Pool C.

But if you have a renegade image, one that is tarnished by on ice behavior, you get what you deserve.

Do you think Castleton would have been selected for the NCAA's last year if they got past Babson in the ECAC East semis but lost to Norwich?

Granted I didnt see the shot after the period.....but that is uncalled for also. However that does not warrant a flying elbow.

FormerCoach

It's not who you beat, but who have your opponents beaten and how good a team those teams are. Somewhere in the archives Josh Carey explains all. He's usually spot on.

Oh, whoops. I looked at the END of the third period (the 20:00 mark, when the incident occurred), didn't think to look at the BEGINNING of the third... because, you know, it's TOTALLY logical to put penalties that occurred at the 20:00 mark on the box score at the 0:00 mark :P

Re: Updates and More for the games of Friday, 6 January 2012

I saw him with the puck with like a second to go I saw him shoot but I thought he was shooting down the ice didn't see it go towards the net. It was really close to the buzzer from where I was sitting but I could be wrong. Uncalled for yes just like Nicks in the first but your right didn't warrant a flying elbow.
