UNO Mavericks vs. SCSU Huskies-Are the games still on?

If SCSU could actually string to games of B level effort it wouldnt even be close, but that hasn't happened or been even close to happening this year.

They'd better bring A efforts if they want to win these games.

The Mavericks keep coming at you and SCSU has fallen apart in the third period consistently this season so far. State gives up way too many odd man rushes and breakaways to win more than one of these games. I give SCSU a puncher's chance to win one, but I picture the games being close through 2 periods each night, with UNO pulling away in the third.

The Mavericks keep coming at you and SCSU has fallen apart in the third period consistently this season so far. State gives up way too many odd man rushes and breakaways to win more than one of these games. I give SCSU a puncher's chance to win one, but I picture the games being close through 2 periods each night, with UNO pulling away in the third.

UNO has given up most of their goals in the third. If UNO wants to pull away, they'd better keep their defense up in that final period. Make no mistake, St. Cloud can score.

While I see where you are coming from, a good number of those came in the earliest series (gophers) where they gave up 6. In those games, UNO scored 7 in the 1st two periods.

SCSU on the other hand has blown leads against powerhouses Bemidji State (who may actually end up alright) and Quinnipiac (Who will not turn out to be alright). St. Cloud has not played a team that is as big or as fast as UNO this season and has struggled mightily with giving up late goals. I agree that they do know how to find the twine with their shots though. It will be an entertaining series, but I don't think State has what it takes based on what they've shown.

Ok, so after reading this thread for all of two minutes, I'm sick of it already.

These UNO fans, who've been in the WCHA since breakfast this morning, are talking about coming into the NHC and sweeping?!? No, no, no.... I won't hear of it. How many trips did it take Bemidji to win at the NHC? How many does Anchorage have?
They're the upstarts, WE'RE the team that came in with F4 and NC aspirations... this feels like opposite day. We've got the deepest group of forwards and the best goalie rotation in the WCHA, maybe the nation, and the blueline is talented and albeit young, going to come together. Perhaps worst of all, this thread is all UNOers. Where the hell are our fans? We're the team that posts the most when our team looks atrocious besides MTU.

We've got the talent for SURE, and we're (or at least we better be) ****ed off right now. I wouldn't mess with us to begin with, I certainly wouldn't ever **** with a wounded animal. SCSU sweeps, and one of the two nights it gets ugly.

And any of you UNO fans who are all high on your team, if you're going to be at the series in February in Omaha, I'll wager a drink on this series as well. Total goals count, that way I'm still covered in case we spank you by 3 and then Dunn lets in a softie in OT.

That's why they play the games.
Yes the Huskies have given up games they shouldn't so far, but do not think it's going to be easy to beat this team, which is how you are making it sound.
SCSU may not have played someone as big as UNO, but speed wise, well Miami was pretty good and when the Huskies showed up to work, those were two well matched teams and we've got some speed and skill of our own.

The Huskies are deeper top to bottom talent wise this year than they were last year and they made it to the region final. The bottom line is it doesn't matter how much talent you have if you take stupid penalties and can't put together 120 minutes of hockey in a weekend. I see a win Friday night and they blow a lead once again in the third on saturday night.

It was like this last year though at this time.
Nothing is decided after 10 games.
What I'm sick of is how fast "fans" of this team bail when things go bad.

Nobody is bailing, just frustrated with sloppy and inconsistent play, I feel that as a fan I can criticize when my team is underachieving. Actually I don't feel I know....SCSU shakes the doldrums and sweeps this weekend, and the production crew amazes the pregame crowd with another epic highlight clip

After watching four games live, I've seen them go 1-3-0 after two games at Mariucci against a horrible MN team and home games against Quinnipiac and Bemidji. In fact I came on here today probably going in a different manner. But seriously, everyone thinks they're gonna wax the floor with us at home? And my buddy (who reads this and doesn't post 'cause he's a *****, so I'm gonna call him out on it) brought up a good point; we play to our level of competition. We struggle against Mankato, but play well against North Dakota and Denver. Omaha lost this series as soon as they were stupid enough to come into the NHC ranked 6th.

Criticism is fine. My problem is people who after 10 games say this squad can't or won't go to the frozen four because of how they've started the season. This season has started just how last year did, giving games away, Roe struggling to find scoring, defensemen adjusting to new roles, greater responsibility...etc. I'm frustrated by their effort to start this season too and **** right we play to the level of our competition and I think its because they think the games are easy against lower level competition when it never is. They figured that out last year, i think they will again this year. And when they start bringing the effort they are capable of to match the talent they have, they will be a team to watch out for.

I'm with SCSU Euro. This team is too talented, and the season is still young. UNO gets a real welcome to the WCHA, and the Huskies come away with at least three points.
