UNLV to go D1

If only all these rumors about UNLV, SDSU and UCLA came true, you'd almost have a western conference in no time. But as Crooked Hillary says about her bazillion emails, there's smoke but no fire.

LV needs slots with college hockey logos on the wheels instead of cherries, etc. 3 Sun Devils would pay more than 3 Fighting Hawks which would pay less than 3 Gophers.

Re: UNLV to go D1

well then, if true, things just got a bit more interesting.

That last $12 million is the toughest to get though, because they've probably already exhausted all the likely sources of donation. Minnesota State Moorhead held a big press conference five years ago saying they had a pledged $15 million towards towards their goal of $37 million for a hockey program. I think they maybe got another $1 million pledged after the announcement before giving up the project. Millions of dollars easier to find in Vegas than Moorhead, Minnesota, but that's still a very hefty amount of money for anyone.

Re: UNLV to go D1

What do you mean? Women's LaX will certainly generate the necessary revenue to pay for the hockey team.

Las Vegas couldn't even support a minor league hockey team with all their crazy promotions and now they've plunked an NHL franchise in Vegas. Who is going to go watch college hockey in that city?

Not true.

Re: UNLV to go D1

Which part? Women's lax ability to generate $$$ or Vegas' ability to support a team?
I would guess they are talking about the first part because no one associated with UND would bother to read any farther once they reached the word "revenue". That's really all they worry about when it comes to hockey.
