University of North Dakota-2015-2016-Seaason

Re: University of North Dakota-2015-2016-Seaason

THIS!!!

I sense a tone of a certain arrogant fanbase is extremely nervous about the possibility of seeing their team defeated in the NCAA tournament by a team from the conference with more national championships than any other. Their spiteful attitude towards that conference reeks of envy. Unless Michigan wins the Big Ten tournament, the conference will be represented by two teams in the tournament. The holier than thou NCHC is likely to have only three. Three out of eight isn't really all that vastly superior to two out of six, so you seriously need to get over yourselves NCHC fans. Referring to the Big Ten as an inferior conference only makes you look like an uninformed buffoon. Nothing would be sweeter than to see all NCHC teams to make the tournament eliminated in the regionals while two Big Ten teams advance to the Frozen Four. I would be so anxious to read the spin cycle on this forum over the course of the entire offseason.
You are a idiot.

:):) Using percentages now? So when the B1G brings in Iowa, Indiana and Illinois, they"re going to be even more of a powerhouse? [Whispers] This is hockey we are talking about here.

The B1G will only have 2 if a team outside the field wins their tournament. If a team outside the field wins the NCHC, they will have 6. And why on earth would you concede that the NCHC numbers are vastly superior? You're supposed to be pitching for your boys!

There are a lot of very knowledgeable hockey fans on this board from hockey-rich big ten schools. Maybe you should leave the job of coming here to defend the conference to one of them. They would do a much better job of it, and most of them know how to have fun with it as well, which is the point of the games we play here.

Edit: I see Slap is up and posting from Manila. He could handle the job easily and would bring some wit and fun to the game in the process.

It's really hard to get over myself when the NCHC is clearly so much better than the B10 though. I also find it amusing that neither Happy nor Speed Kills recognize charity when they see it. UND knew how terrible Wisconsin and the B10 was so they made the noble sacrifice of willingly losing a game to the Badgers. It's obvious to anyone who isn't a complete B10 bobo.

What is it with Minnesota fans and dissociative identity disorder? First Tyler, now JDubbs.

Wasn't Shirley Ardell Mason from Minnesota, too? Is it something in the water?

Wow, I see that without the Gopher fans around, you guys fall for the easiest troll bait ever.

Stop being silly. Speed Kills couldn't troll his own mother on the trollingest day of his life if he had an electrified trolling machine.

And Dirty for the win.

But yes, that ONE win back in November was pretty impressive. One win out of sixteen tries against the NCHC is pretty awesome. Definitely envious of that impressive conference. But they do have more National Titles. And I'm sure that means something relative to the tournament this year. Wait... nope.

St. Cloud State, North Dakota, and Denver are the only NCHC teams ranked high enough in the pairwise to be assured of an at-large bid. If somebody outside of those three wins your tournament you get four at best, but there is a gigantic drop-off after those three. More than likely those are going to be your three teams to make the tournament. I don't know where you get six but you simply are not being realistic.

PWR drop off between NCHC teams
3rd place Denver and 4th place UMD: Seven spots
3rd place Denver and 5th place UNO: Nine spots

PWR drop off between B10 teams
1st place Michigan and 2nd place Minnesota: Nine spots
1st place Michigan and 3rd place Penn State: Nine spots

Wow, you're right. That is a gigantic drop-off! Of course, unlike Minnesota and Penn State, both UMD and UNO are currently in the top 15. But I still say you're right.

Four is likely, five is possible. SCSU, UND and Denver are locks. If UNO takes out Denver in the first round of the playoffs (not likely based on how they ended their season), they likely move up into the top 13 in PWR and are probably safe. If UMD takes out Miami (I'd put this as likely) they are also likely to stay in the top 13.

UMD is ranked high enough to get in without winning the NCHC tourney and I'm guessing you knew that but your just trolling. If UNO or Miami wins the NCHC tourney that will give us 5 not 6 so you are righ about not getting 6 though

Re: University of North Dakota-2015-2016-Seaason

How many get in if UNO sweeps this weekend and Western or CC wins the NCHC tournament?

I would say four is possible, five a longshot. Duluth can and in all likelihood should get past Miami, but even if they do I have a feeling they might need to win a game next weekend. Of course a lot depends on how all of the other bubble teams do and how many autobids come from outside the top 16, but I certainly wouldn't feel extremely confident right now if I was a Duluth fan. My prediction is they lose two games next weekend and get left out of the regionals. I think either the Gophers or else Penn State will win the Big Ten tournament, giving us two teams to advance.

As good as Michigan has looked at times this year, it is amazing how little confidence there is in them winning the conference tournament. Not that UMinn isn't a very capable team, but . . . .

I don't see any way that both UMD and UNO get in under those circumstances. You'd basically have UMD vs. CC in one semi and WMU vs. UNO in the other. Maybe if UNO lost to CC in the championship game and UMD won the third place game, but I have a feeling the team we gain with the autobid would cause UNO or UMD to drop out.

So what you're saying is A) the NCHC is guaranteed to get more than the Big Ten can get and B) that drop-off after the top 3 NCHC teams is GIGANTIC... but even after that gigantic drop-off the top 5 NCHC teams are still ahead of the 2nd best Big Ten team.

As good as Michigan has looked at times this year, it is amazing how little confidence there is in them winning the conference tournament. Not that UMinn isn't a very capable team, but . . . .

Or that Michigan is already in and the Big Ten fans are trying to convince themselves their conference won't get just one team in.
