University of New England 2015-16

Re: University of New England 2015-16

A tip of the cap to the Bowdoin Polar Bears, they played well enough to win last night in a really "funny" game. Both teams had stretches of excellence and stretches of "butt ugly" hockey. Both clubs caught iron a couple of times and finally, one of them went in at the end. On to USM.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

It's been awhile since anyone posted here and the Nor'easters have been struggling. So,I figured I add something in the hopes that it changes the luck for the boys. Old news, I know, but in the loss to Bowdoin, the pounded more iron than the Village Smithy and clanked another one inthe OT. This past weekend, they missed what looked like an open net with 20 sec left in the 3rd to tie the game, and e'll the leave UMass Boston game alone. That is a very good hockey team!

Any way, here's to hoping the puck luck will change for this weekend's games.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

This is the best time of year in D-III college hockey. Not that all games aren't meaningful, but at this time of year the ol' sphincter has a tendency to tighten up as team face critical games. Baboon and UMB are up in the North Country for a critical series for each. NU hopes to turn there untypically bad (by NU standards) season around and head into the post season on a high note. At UNE, they have a real chance to make school history, they already have, this season. Best of luck to the Nor'easters this weekend and next. And thanks to all of the NEHC schools for some really great hockey watching!

I just love auto correct on handhelds.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

An interesting weekend in the southern part of the state of Maine, NEC knocks off UNE on Friday to gain control of the 4th spot only to get beat by USM on Saturday and lose control. A great gift to UNE, USM doesn't usually try to help UNE! Although, it seems like Coach Harding is beginning to get his kids to believe!

Top 3 spots are locked up nice and tight, except we're not sure who will be 1. Still going to be battle for the 4th spot. UNE better put it together at Castleton and Skidmore. NEC could very easily walk out of Boston with some points and both CSU and Skidmore scare the heck out of me!

BTW, for those of us who have followed UNE over the years... This is fun!

Re: University of New England 2015-16

Looks like the Alfond Forum will be busy next week. UNE will be hosting their first ever NEHC Post season game. Best of luck to Coach Swallow and the rest of the Nor'easters.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

The first winning season on the Biddeford Campus since 1978-79, it's been a fun season for the Nor'easters. Good Luck in the NEHC Playoffs.Hope to see a packed house at the Forum on Saturday.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

How does the players view leaving the NEHC. Drop in competition just when UNE is becoming a strong team.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

I'm really not that close to the team to know what they players feel. I have been watching them for years, and I have enjoyed seeing some of the top schools come to Biddeford. I loved it when the schedule included the NESCAC schools, it really gave some variety to the schedule. As for the CCC, there could be a future there if teams like Endicott, Wentworth, Salve and Nichols keep improving. But I'm not going tell you that I won't miss Norwich, UMB, Babson and all the other NEHC schools. There was some really great hockey played.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

Historic night tonight at the University of New England's Harold Alfond Forum. UNE Athletics is hosting four home games today with the Final Game being UNE's 1st ever hosting of a post-season game. UNE Athletics has branded the day "Blue Madness" with Men's Ice Hockey playing New England College in the NEHC Quarter-final at 7pm. Good Luck Nor'easters!

Re: University of New England 2015-16

What a great night at The Forum. A very convincing 4-1 win for the Nor'easters and the place was electric. I am not sure of the actual attendance, but the place was packed and the students were very loud! Let's hope that the team can carry the energy against a very good Mass Boston Team. AS a side note: I can't help thinking of Coach Barry and the old Boston State Team playing in the old Boston Arena on St. Botolph Street, when thinking of Mass Boston.

Re: University of New England 2015-16

The players, coaches, administration and fans are all looking forward to the CCC. The CCC will soon be like the NESCAC, Ivy and Big Ten with all sports with the same league. This is the best and only way to go.

Me too, the ole Boston Arena was a classic!
