University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Should be good.
Curious why he didnt come in last year to play with his bro.
Or maybe thats why he didnt.
He was made a captain of the team, wearing the C, after his freshman year. Also, looking at the team last spring it would have been risky to assume he would get playing time at center. This year, however, we are in need of 3 center man. So he has is a virtual lock for every game he is healthy. And he will likely center one of the top couple lines. He was the top line center at Brown. So I think last year might have been an odd time for him since he was just made a captain and also the playing time was more of a question mark. This year, much clearer picture since the playing time will be there and he knows what he is leaving behind walking away from the Captain of Brown.

I seem to recall some rumblings about him last year, maybe it was from Harrison hoping he would come in.
Probably more about the C than anything.
He surely at a minimum would have centered 4th line, and with any injury moved up in line.
Seems like his development would have been better at a HE team playing a little less than at Brown. Well those are the decisions these guys have to make, exciting news glad he came in.

Little Scott has big shoes to fill from his brother, but hard not to be excited! Great add!

They are identical in size at 6’0 and 185 lbs according to CHN and the both are left shot centermen. Their playing styles appear nearly identically to me as gritty, tenacious, defensively responsible, 200 ft player, with vision and skill, and great on face offs.

Harrison came from Bentley and was a 0.47 ppg center man where his team went 25-41-4 for 0.386 win rate in AHA hockey league.

Max came from Brown and was a 0.81 ppg center man where his team went 22-34-6 for 0.403 win rate in ECAC hockey league.

Ultimately it has to happen on the ice. But all indications are we will see very similarly great play from Max that we saw from Harrison.

I know I heard his interview on the coach’s show and John Shields asked him about his family. And after he talked about his brother playing at Brown Shields asked if he would want to transfer to Maine. And Harrison said I know I told him how great it is to play here so maybe he will. But made it seem like he would want his younger brother to transfer up to Maine. But with Scott, Renwick, and Breen all seniors playing center he would be likely the 4th line center. But at Brown he ended up being their top center. So kind of don’t blame him there. And I don’t think being a captain for Brown and their top line center developed him worse than being Maine’s 4th line center. Max Scott got 23:38 for toi for Brown including power play time. Whereas Komarov got 10:41 for Maine and no power play time. So it likely was the right call for Max Scott, even though selfishly we would have wanted him this season as it would have been even better depth.

This is definitely a great thing getting Max Scott. I think we would take a couple more just like Max Scott if they become available. Or if they can land impact freshmen from major junior.

The more I read about him, the more I think he'll be a perfect fit.

And him talking with Harrison this Summer can't hurt. I'm sure he'll get a whole ton of helpful advice.

(Little brothers eat that shit up; just ask mine.)
Lmfao maybe I'm blind but Brown is a bunch of losers

They left him on last years roster and removed him from this one. Total losers lol

It appears as though they removed Lawton Zacher as well. He is in the portal and was their top goalie.

They couldn’t get rid of this page before I could snag some stats…

“Scott picks up finalist honors for the Gladiator Best Defensive Forward Award after a standout sophomore campaign. The captain finished the 22-game conference slate with eight goals and 18 points to rank 16th in the conference in scoring.

Scott also recorded 28 blocked shots in conference games and led the ECAC with 341 faceoffs won, 69 more than the next skater. He won 56.2% of his faceoffs in league play.

Overall, Scott ranks fifth in the NCAA with 398 faceoffs won and he finished the 32-game season with a team-leading 12 goals and ranked third on the Bears with 26 points.”

Harrison Scott face off percentage was 56.67%.
Max Scott face off percentage was 53.77%.

YouTube ai algorithm offered up this old time gem… Shawn Walsh rant at intermission in the locker room.

Joe Carr another great radio guy Maine fans have been lucky to have over the years.

Video of the homecoming celebrations(1993) at Alfond and the airport. For those who weren't around this captures what it was like in orono after the win. I waited in Alfond that day for hours . It was worth the wait and it was fun to see it again. Few things I didn't remember Like Dave laCouture getting knocked out the championship game, or Eric Fenton shutting down Brian Rolston. I forgot about the east west shrine game in Alfond a week later, If you have some time to kill its worth a watch

Hopefully all of the Maine fans are recovered from that stinging defeat that kept them out of the FF. I still am gnawed by BC going down as well. I just wish there was another Hockey East team in the FF, anyone but BU. It is so hard to cheer for them, but I will have to. BU is poised to go on a nice run in Hockey East with the talent they have coming in and the first round transfer from North Dakota as well. It could be their turn to take over for a while. Hopefully the rest of the league keeps up.
