University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Noted playmaker Albin Boija on the primary assist. Love it.

Didn’t expect Maine to have the fresher legs to start but no complaints. I’m sure UConn is going to tighten up the middle the rest of the way because Maine has way too much space to operate.

Billy is right. Maine is going to pack Allentown. That's why I'm not concerned with playing the host team. NoDak fans are rabid. Maine fans are rabid. Pedo State fans are decidedly not.

I see Maine fans on Facebook bitching about uconn coach winning coy over barr. I think the team took that slight to heart. Walshy would be proud. Job ain't done. 4 more wins :)
It’s no surprise Barr didn’t get Coach of the Year. Wins aren’t everything. He’s a bully who plays mind games with some of his players and damages their mental well-being. That kind of coaching doesn’t deserve recognition, no matter the record.

That was emotional. I’m so freakin proud for these kids and so freakin happy for all you guys that are still here

They’re STILL chanting in the lower bowl. There’s nothing like Maine people

Years ago I heard Bob Norton, NESN commentator, talk about the strategy Maine could following Maines triple ot win in providence when it had a game the following day. It was the Cardinal Shermahorn team.

Norton is a former UNH assistant, so he knew what he was talking about. It was interesting.

He said the key was to get the players out of bed in the morning for breakfast and a morning skate in - however light. He thought getting their legs moving a bit and following the ordinary game day routine was important. I think he mentioned an afternoon nap for players before the game.

The Maine players endured an extra 30 minutes of intense pressure playoff hockey and likely didn’t fall asleep until 2-3. I’m sure the players needed food after the game and a wind down from the adrenaline.

The key for Maine is to not fall behind by 2 goals or more. A comeback under these circumstances is too much.
Norton was a notorious gas-bag, and a UNH homer.

Having said that. he did his homework, usually.

Pretty-much the Dick Vitale of college hockey, for better or worse.
