University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

I'll take the other side of that. NESN actually decides the time slots based on what it thinks will get better ratings. NU, BU, and Maine all have big hockey followings; UConn is still a hoops school. Hockey draw remains an unknown. So, if I make that decision (I don't), I go with NU-Maine in the late game.

Great game for the guys. Awesome that Mitton, Freel, and Scott broke their droughts in the same game.

Lots of hockey left to play, but have to feel good getting Northeastern who had a double OT game Wednesday, left everything on the ice vs BC tonight, and then has to go again on short week. 3 games in 7.5 days, Maine has only had 1.

Good point.

Now we just have to hope there is no game suspension for Charbrier. I think it used to be automatic one game suspension, called a DQ. But it was listed as a game misconduct in the box score. Let’s hope league doesn’t consider it serious since it wasn’t on video replay and it was called by a linesman. I can’t imagine it was a big deal because no player went down on the ice like he was hurt. I would like to hear what Barr thinks about it. Strange call. I’ve only seen it called once before in a Maine game.

I vaguely remember this same scenario years ago when we were at the Garden most years and Walsh saying he prefers the late game to allow more Maine fans to come down.

Usually it is a Friday and Saturday. I wonder if it being a Thursday and Friday might keep Mainers home due to work issues? I can get away with only taking a half day off on Thursday. Friday night will be tight for me but can cut out of work an hour early Friday afternoon. But depending on where people are coming from they might not be able to take time off from work to get there on time.

Coach was happy with the team tonight, all of the team. I agree Antonacci has been much better the last few weeks. He is lugging the puck through neutral zone more, making some good passes in transition, chipping in on offense and not losing his defensive responsibilities. These are all signs of a defensemen gaining confidence. Nice to see him respond to adversity after being benched and turning it all around. Might be most improved this year. Niemo is another guy making an impact now after being benched and turning it all around. They both could be candidates for most improved this season.

I don’t get Maine playing the late game. The top seed has always played the early game…just ask BC. I get that the fans prefer the 7:30 start….but if the game goes into triple OT….you’ll be wishing Maine had played the early game come Friday night.

Can anyone point to a HE semifinal where the highest seed didn't play the first game ? If Maine fans really want to go they will be there at 4 or at 730. If taking the train down Maine fans would be far better off with the early game so they are sure they can get out of town.

Good strategy, have to win the first game before making/planning for the final game.
Be lots of blue there thursday.
