University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Damn, that '99 team carried lunch-pails to the rink every night. Was at the Albany Regional, and that team fought tooth and nail.

The title game..? I needed a bucket of Rolaids to get through that one.

UNH was even better than BC that season.

But there was this one guy in net for Maine that night... He played pretty well.

99 regional was in Worcester and you guys advanced pretty comfortably over Ohio State and Clarkson….. agreed on Alfie stealing the F4 though
Right, sorry.

The top four of Hockey East are set.

Boston College
Maine
Boston University (locked)
UConn (locked)

Providence, UMass and Lowell are in contention for 5th.

Merrimack can finish as high as seven and as low as nine.

Northeastern will finish 8th or 9th.

Vermont and UNH bring up the rear.

Hockey East has announced it will have a special live show starting Saturday night at 7 with live coverage from all four of the late games.

Adam Pellerin, Billy Jaffe, and Andrew Raycroft will host, taking a live look in to each game during key moments, showing power-plays, goals, clutch saves, and more throughout the night while providing insight and analysis into the country’s most competitive college hockey conference.

The late games will feature staggered starting times to allow for maximum coverage of each exciting moment during the regular season finale. UMass Lowell and New Hampshire will start things off at 7:00 p.m., while Boston University and Vermont drop the puck at 7:10 p.m., Providence and Northeastern duel at 7:15 p.m., and Maine and Massachusetts put and end to the 2024-25 season starting at 7:30 p.m.

The show will air on NESN.

Yes, that was a fun regional. Steve Kariya had a 6 point night against Clarkson. Clarkson deserved that for getting the bye. The game after between UNH and Michigan was epic.
Clarkson pulled its goalie with about 5 minutes to go, IIRC?

(i probably don't.)

Hated that CU got a bye to the Regional final, but the hockey gods made it right.

7 HE teams still in it for NCAAs, thats amazing. UNH still at 20 with an under .500 record, Tough year in HE. Maine needs at least 0ne in Amherst

Do y'all have any preference on quarterfinal opponent? It seems like Lowell has backslid a bit, but that's still the #15 team coming in for a single elimination game.

I knew Shawn would use that as motivation for the boys, and use the game against Ohio State as a tune up before they crucified Clarkson in the regional final. But I didn't foresee the team sweeping the Hockey East Tournament II to win the whole thing...that was so sweet. Especially so because we were still under NCAA sanctions for the 1994 bullshit.

The Clarkson games was so awesome. Couldn't have beat the crap out of a better opponent if you ask me. While 93 was great somehow 99 was even better

Tickets to the home quarterfinal game (time and opponent TBA) went on sale to the public at 3. I just checked the website and it looks like the last ticket just sold.

Not surprising. I just hope the team finds motivation for tonight. UMass is going to be hungry to stay in the ncaa picture. Maine locked into #2 unless some sort of miracle happens where BC loses and Maine sweeps. Hoping to see the boys still motivated but bracing myself for a let down game tonight. Would love to be wrong on this.

UMass 3-0

Arnott decides to stand in front of Boija instead of playing the UMass forward Musa at the net front. Well Musa taps in a rebound as Arnott screens Boija then watches the UMass guy bury it.

Mass not as physical as they were in orono, just passing good and bringing puck into zone under control. They get a man in front of net every play. Just overall in better position and hustling better.
Maine has heart lets see how big. Come on boys.
