There has to be a some Union fans who have a personal copy of this game for themselves instead of buying it from the college?

Re: UNION Hockey National Champion's Off Season-U Believe it?

Next year our loses are going to be huge ....
- 40% of last years scoring production (Carr, Hatch, Ikkaka, Sullivan, Bodie, Ghost)
Goals 160 team - 63 seniors plus Ghost
Points 502 team - 187 seniors plus Ghost
- Two first team All-American defensemen (Bodie, Ghost)
- Second leading ECAC scorer (Carr)
- Great Speed - (Hatch, Bodie, Ghost)
- Tremendous Leadership - (Carr, Hatch, Ikkaka, Sullivan, Bodie, Ghost)

However, we have returning:

#1. The makings of at least two to three very solid lines with some great experience:
Ciampini
Vecchione
Novak
Pontarelli
Lichtenwald
Wilkins
Coatta
Cruice
Question: Can Roy, Bennett, DiPauli and Goyne step up to help create the depth we are going to need? What would our four lines look like with just upper classmen?

#2. Solid experienced at Goaltending
Colin, Alex and Dillion

#3. Solid Experience on Defense
Taylor
Gingras
Vasaturo
Henry
Can Krug and Martin step up?

OK, where do the freshmen fit in? Can we get them up to speed fast enought to help create some depth? Can they help us on defense? Will we be ready to defend the our ECAC title when the time comes? Which Freshmen will contribute right away? Is it just six? Can Connor Light step up? Will the five forwards help us build depth? On the one hand, I would be ecstatic if we can make it back to Lake Placid. On the other hand, this is one tough group of young men and I don't think they are going to give up that ECAC title, without one hell of a fight. :)

I think Scarfo and Light will be studs, DeSimone could also be a very good offensive defenseman.

Is DeSimone this year? (2014-2015). I thought he was next year. I was looking at College Hockey News .... What is the most reliable place to look for a listing of next years freshmen recruits? I thought Light was the only "D" we had coming in next year ...

Hope I am wrong and you are right ....

This was back in April 10 in Bloomberg before Philadelphia
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-...ins-underdog-tag-even-with-financial-gap.html

Union spends about $676,000 annually on its men’s hockey team, Athletic Director Jim McLaughlin said. In the fiscal year ended June 2013, the three other semifinalists spent $3.25 million (BC), $2.68 million (North Dakota), and $2.31 million (Minnesota), according to the U.S. Department of Education.

Add to the mix that apparently UM is planning an $8MMM renovation to Mariucci. I guess I'm not so blown away by the disparity as by the raw numbers themselves. Multiple millions is staggering. Money will always be an issue for Union with the D-1 and D-3 push pull in the Athletic Department.

If you had scholarships that would add a million.

Appreciate the comment. However, I believe the standard accounting practices for colleges is that academic or athletic scholarships that do not require service to the college (working in the athletic department, etc.) are treated as reductions in revenue. I don't believe that any of the aforemention numbers include any athletic scholarships. You would want to add that to MINN, BC & ND, not Union, if you wanted an apples to apples.

Re: UNION Hockey National Champion's Off Season-U Believe it?

Care to speculate on captains?

The seniors are:
Vasaturo
Bennett
Ciampini
Coatta
Novak
Stevens
Pieri

My guess (pure speculation) is that Ciampini is made Captain and Novak and Stevens and Vasaturo are made Assistant Captains.

Re: UNION Hockey National Champion's Off Season-U Believe it?

What might our lines look like next year? Anyone's guess at this point. Seven different players scored against Minnesota .... we had great depth. 4-lines that could burn you ... The ECAC is only getting more competitive and there is just not much of a difference top to bottom. I see us finishing in the middle of the ECAC after a rough start with a younger, bigger, stronger, slower team. Will we be more of a defensive oriented team like in years past where we looked like Cornell? I don't know. Last year our freshmen really stepped up to fill some big big holes (Taylor, Pontarelli, Lichtenwald, Vecchione). I think this incoming class is an unknown. We have arguably the toughest non-conference schedule in the ECAC next year. As an aside we will be losing Phil Cohn - Coordinator of Hockey Operations and John Ronan, Volunteer Assistant Coach. Not sure where they are going. Every team has a "character" all to its own. We will see .... Wilkins was "rookie of the year" as a freshmen ... would love to see him have a "breakout" year.

FORWARDS
1st line:
Ciampini
Vecchione
Novak
2nd line:
Wilkins
Lichtenwald
Pontarelli
3rd line:
Cruice
Roy
Coatta
4th line:
DiPauli
Bennett
Goyne
5th line: - Freshmen (5)
Scarfo
Ammirota
Schier
Hynes
Foo
DEFENSEMEN
1st line:
Taylor
Gingras
2nd line:
Vasaturo
Henry
3rd Line:
Krug
Martin
4th line: - Freshmen (2)
Light
DeSimone
GOALTENDING
Collin
Alex
Dillion

Those choices seem logical. I might add Gingras as an "A" in place of Stevens, perhaps.
