Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

It looks like he's listed as inactive because he was at the WJAC camp. His two other teammates who were at the camp are also listed as inactive on the roster. It's a bummer he didn't make the team. It would've been nice to see how he stacked up in the tournament
It always strikes me as a tough thing for a player. That is , drop everything/leave your team and travel for a 2 1/2 day tryout, competing against a bunch of other talented kids, 2/3 of whom also won't make the squad. Pontarelli is legit - U has a good one in him, IMO. WJAs or not.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

You have less than 27 hours to get your picks in or revise your picks to the ECAC Pick The Standings 2012-2013 thread. Remember 7PM Friday is the deadline.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

According to his Twitter, Pontarelli is now back in Cornwall. I'd guess he resumes playing there any time now.

It's gonna be all right :)

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

My previous post was incorrect...that's what I get for believing the Colts' website. Colts beat Nepean 3-1, Pontarelli nets two in his return...coach commented him on his tryout performance. Apparently he was stuck in a bit of a numbers crunch, due to a limit as to how many '93s they could select (5)...:p

Thanks for the update Slappy. I can't imagine how those tryouts can be less than very subjective under the circumstances. It has to be difficult for all involved.

Line Chart for tonight http://unionhockey.tumblr.com/post/34843247162/11-2-12-union-line-chart-vs-rpi

Only big change I see is Forgaard back in after being hurt last weekend, other than that Grosenick starting the first game this weekend. We will see if he gets both pending on how it goes tonight. Go U
A couple of things I notice are that Ghostbuster is a go and Sullivan is out of the lineup. Also Ciampini is moved up to the top line.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

1. Union
2. Cornell
3. Harvard
4. St. Lawrence
5. Quinnipiac
6. Rpi
7. Dartmouth
8. Yale
9. Colgate
10. Clarkson
11. Brown

Bob, you didn't include Princeton in your estimates.

Dont think Ghost is 100% but still playing! I did notice Sully is out was wondering about that

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Good effort tonight except for the third period where we came out and didnt match the opponents intensity. I'm sure coach won't be happy about that. Tough loss with M Bodes if in fact he fractured his wrist. Didn't see what happened but noted his absence. Troy I thought played his best game of the season and was helped by RPI's usual affinity for missing wide open nets on occasion. Beautiful goal by Wayne Simpson who controlled the puck down low got Diebold moving slowly to his right and popped it right while cutting left. I think he is going to have a huge season. No let down tomorrow.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

I'm sure they'll hear about the third period. They were outshot 14-3 and RPI controlled the game. Fortunately, the game was in hand and RPI didn't capitalize. The first two periods reminded me of the regular season games from last year. Though Union won the game, RPI may have some momentum with the way they played in the third. Tomorrow night should be a lot of fun.

I didn't see what happened to Bodie, either. All I saw was him going off -- I hoped it was something far less serious like maybe an equipment issue..... but unfortunately, it doesn't sound good. Maybe we'll see Boyle in there tomorrow night.

Im afraid its worse than just a fractured wrist, its gonna be awhile till we see him but im afraid its more than just fractured.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Schott's story in Saturday's paper puts a 1-2 month timetable on M.Bodie.

RPI TV's HD replay stream isn't up yet, but here's some lower-res highlights (no sound) -

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Loss of M.Bodes is bad news, but hopefully he'll be back for the stretch run in Jan/Feb. I didn't see what happened either, other than his wipeout in the first 30 seconds.. maybe it happened then? Will likely see more of Vasaturo and Boyle in the next couple months. The other question is who will take Bodie's spot with Stuart on the (ostensibly) 1st D-pair. Would not be surprised to see Gingras, especially since Bennett had very kind words for him after the game.

I'm not losing too much sleep worrying about the 3rd period last night, considering were playing 5 d-men and protecting a 3 goal lead. Appert did not sound happy with the effort of the engineers last night, and would agree that they seemed strangely tentative. I expect he will have his charges revved up for tonight. U better be ready and have a more consistent effort.

Glad we got out of tonight without any more injuries. I hate to say it, but I really lost a lot of respect for Appert and RPI tonight. What Curadi and Lee (the captain no less) did tonight was reprehensible.

On to Harvard and Dartmouth next week, both teams have had strong starts, should be a good measuring stick for the season. Let's go U!
