Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Q&A with Tri-City Storm head coach / general manager Josh Hauge: http://t.co/vzP2m6BY

He's coaching 2013-2014 recruit Michael Vecchione and former Union player Trevor Mingoia. See what he says about them.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

I interviewed Dartmouth associate head coach Dave Peters ahead of tomorrow's big game against Union. He offers thoughts on the game, what he saw from Union in November, and some of his players who could be factors.

Find it at http://bit.ly/USzLMD

Thanks for doing all of these interviews lately. It's been very interesting to get all of the different perspectives they provide.

Ending in 40 minutes at NHL auctions - a Gostisbehere WJC game worn jersey.

But not for bargain hunters. Already at $670.

Follow bidding at NHL Auctions: http://t.co/HqqN0eGJ

update - Ended at a cool $1,021. Had 18 bids.

Dartmouth lines tonight against Union Hockey

Jason Bourgea - Alex Goodship - Tim O'Brien

On defense:

Mike Keenan - Ryan Bullock

Rick Pinkston - Nick Lovejoy

In goal:

Cab Morris (Charles Grant backup)

Brandon McNally is Dartmouth's most notable scratch (6 goals, 5 assists). Associate HC Peters said Wednesday McNally would likely be out.

A propos of nothing

I'm glad to see Mike Schafer at Cornell finally paying the price for being a 1990's coach and not adapting to the modern game. As a result of his all-defense-all-the-time approach, no respectable forward would even consider playng there even though it's the best atmosphere in colege hockey. Cornell is now officially a lousy team playing a game that went out of style a decade ago. I hope they finish last and lose in the first round--that's extremely likely since they now appear to be imploding.

Press conference veterans said they had never seen Bennett more steamed than he was tonight.

Thought it was interesting that Bennett said "there were some passengers on the top 6 forwards tonight".. Its looked to me over the last few games that some of the better players on the team are either hanging on to the puck too long or are inexplicably not hustling/coasting at times. I'm not sure exactly what the coaches can do about this, as these are players that won't get benched because they are still producing in many ways, but sounds like there could be some tough practices next week.

This team continues to be an enigma. Its kinda amazing to me that they can have the record they do, but have not beaten a good team that plays well.

You're right, the team is an enigma. You think they're on the right track with 3 wins in a row and minutes away from a fourth. But then Ciampini commits an awful penalty and the usually unbreakable penalty kill allows the game-tying goal. I thought the penalty was a legit call, but that's something that can't happen at that point in the game. Like Quinnipiac, Cornell, and some others, it was a game they should have gotten 2 points out of. I was a little surprised to see Cruice of the lineup. Bennett had some good things to say about him after the Colgate game.

You do realize that you're talking about a team that made it to a regional final 2 out of the last 4 years, right? I wouldn't declare a trend based on one data point just yet.

This is all very interesting, and I tend to agree. However, this is on our thread why?
