Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

The Van Dyck (237 Union Street, Schenectady) and the Recovery Sports Grill (1925 Curry Road, Rotterdam) are hosting watch parties for Friday night's game (7:30 at Princeton, NBC Sports Network).

The Van Dyck will be bringing in a large screen for the game. The Recovery Sports Grill has released an event flier, which you can find here: http://i45.tinypic.com/2i1jyty.jpg

I thought it was interesting to find out he was recruited by schools in the CCHA and WCHA, supposed stronger leagues. Nice that Union was able to beat them out.

Daniel Ciampini needed a full year to get going, so it may just be a matter of time for Wilkins.

Rick Bennett audio from before practice today: http://bit.ly/VVF2hc

Bennett discussed how the team has looked in practice this week, the upcoming weekend, what has been missing throughout the ongoing slump, and more.

Any news on whether the Ghost plays tonight? I figured it was a no-brainer but see that Bennett said his status was 50/50 earlier in week.

Re: Union Hockey 2012-2013 - Unfinished Business

Bennett told me before practice yesterday that it's still up in the air (Gostisbehere didn't return to practice until yesterday). But unless something went awry, hard to imagine he wouldn't be in there this weekend. A guy like Vesey, dealing with the same issue, played for Harvard the other day.

From a point of comparison, D'Amigo was not in RPI's lineup the weekend after taking gold in 2010. However, the tournament had ended the Thursday or Friday before that weekend, and he wanted some rest time as opposed to playing, coincidentally, this exact same series in the exact same location. Given it has been a few days since the WJC ended (January 5th was the gold medal game), tack on an extra day or so for travel, and maybe a day or two to heal the jet lag, I would suspect that Ghost would be in your lineup, especially if he practiced yesterday.

Big win. Once again, I was worried about a blown third period lead when they had controlled the entire game and could have had a 4-goal lead.

I thought both Princeton goals were ones that Grosenick should have stopped, but he did make some good stops late in the 3rd.

Can they pull off a win in Hamden? :)

A much needed win, but still need to get the PP going. Just 1-7 last night and 1-18 over the past 3 games. Uncharacteristic.

actually, he missed the Q-Pac Friday game then played in the Sunday afternoon game vs PU & scored a goal.
