Young’s other NCAA offer came from Dartmouth College. The young goaltender cites the coaching staff as the main reason for his choosing Union College.
“They have a coach, Jason Tapp, who is their full time goalie coach and obviously for me that’s really appealing because not a lot of schools have full time goalie coaches. It will be nice to have someone there constantly to work with me and make me better. [Tapp] has a good track record of guys going on to [play professionally],” said Young.
Union College’s hockey program became Divison I in the 1991-1992 season. Since then, the Dutchmen have made four NCAA Tournament appearances (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and have made two NCAA Frozen Four appearance (2012, 2014).
I hope Joe Young comes ready to play next year and/or Alex working his *** off over the summer. Goalie will be an interesting position battle next year.
