I hope Joe Young comes ready to play next year and/or Alex working his *** off over the summer. Goalie will be an interesting position battle next year.

Young’s other NCAA offer came from Dartmouth College. The young goaltender cites the coaching staff as the main reason for his choosing Union College.
“They have a coach, Jason Tapp, who is their full time goalie coach and obviously for me that’s really appealing because not a lot of schools have full time goalie coaches. It will be nice to have someone there constantly to work with me and make me better. [Tapp] has a good track record of guys going on to [play professionally],” said Young.
Union College’s hockey program became Divison I in the 1991-1992 season. Since then, the Dutchmen have made four NCAA Tournament appearances (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014) and have made two NCAA Frozen Four appearance (2012, 2014).

Since I'm on the topic of next year, in my opinion, Brassard and Taylor have the best chance of developing into the next Ghost and Bodie. I know it's a tall order, but I like their potential. I also like Connor Light's potential of developing into a good defensive defenseman. DeSimone and Henry just need to continue developing. Overall, the potential and upside is there, we are experiencing the growing pains right now. I think we all were spoiled with the great defense the past 3-4 years, a rebuilding year was inevitable.

We have played some great hockey this year. The tie against BU was one of the most exciting hockey games I have ever seen. The Harvard win was as well. In years past when it took the team a while to get going, we had the goaltending to bail us out. Now we are down 3-1 before we know what hit us. Forget about holding on to leads. We give up leads and lose games in the final seconds of play. Never did that before. I had picked us to finish 6th and Lake Placid was a stretch goal. Pretty sure we are not even going to see that. BTW Vec and Champ got a total of 6 shots on Saturday. We need Wilkins back in there to dig out the puck and feed them.

This about sums it up .....

As for Union, the past weekend seemed to be a death blow in what has been an inconsistent season for the defending national champions. The Dutchmen beat Clarkson 4-1 Friday, but were blown out by St. Lawrence 7-1 on Saturday. That loss makes it likely that Union will be on the road for the opening round of the playoffs, while a bye seems virtually impossible at this point.

Following Saturday’s loss, Union coach Rick Bennett told Ken Schott of The Daily Gazette that the Dutchmen “are a part-time team and our record shows it.” The Dutchmen haven’t put together a four-point weekend in ECAC play, thanks in part to a defense that ranks41st in the country.

Anyone surprised that we defend so far down in our zone, instead of on the blue line (remember Bodie stopping that puck before the empty netter in the final, right on the blue line...) ?

Who's excited to go to Messa tomorrow?! Hopefully we can beat Princeton, Q will be tough.

I'm always excited about going to Messa. To me there's nothing more exciting. Let's hope the team has their A game ready. Go U!!! However, they're playing Yale and Brown!:)

An adult beverage or two never hurts. :D

Rick Bennett told Ken Schott that lineup changes may not happen. Does anyone else not believe that?

Put it this way: Who would you rotate in to give your team a better chance to win?

Is there redemption for the Dutchmen? A win over Yale tonight would point them in the right direction. Unfortunately time is becoming of the essence. Nothing less than winning the ECAC tournament will put the bus on the Mass Pike. The Union faithful have hoped for the "turn" for many weekends. It has been frustrating, particularly not having swept one ECAC weekend. Playing catch up is tough.
Looking toward next year one might derive some solace from the success of BU and Miami, winners of just ten and fifteen games last season. But there is still some hockey to be played in the next several weeks.

I like the lineup ... Sam C and Matt Wilkins return .... got some tough never give up leaders and Light returns to the defense. DeSimone and Taylor paired. Lots of speed. Yep, about as solid of a lineup you could ask for.

Yes, great lineup. 2 fourth lines. An immobile 3rd pairing. Best (meaning, worst) lineup we've iced in a few seasons. Got worked the entire game. Just be thankful Stevens was in there and not Sak. It could have been much worse.
