Union College Hockey 2009-2010: Playoff series win? Check. Albany? This is the year.

Re: Union College Hockey 2009-2010: Playoff series win? Check. Albany? This is the year.

It's a legitimate question.

On one hand, Kinkaid played well in the 2.5 games he played on Friday night. He's the #1 goalie that earned the spot midway through the season.

On the other hand, Milan came in and won the 2 most important games in the school's D-1 history.

Hmm....

I'd give the edge to Milan because I believe he has played in the Times Union Center before with the governor's cup. That's the x factor. This is a big stage and I would go with experience here.

Pardon me for breaking from the subject, but it's great to see you back on these boards, SlyFoxMan.

It's the coaches who vote. The media doesn't have a say.

Coaches should know better on this front. And I'm not even advocating MVT. Broc Little deserves the recognition more. Just can't figure out why everyone thinks Backman is one of the 3 best players in the league, let alone one of the three best forwards.

In the end, it shouldn't better. If Polacek doesn't win the award, that would be the real injustice

Hey guys-

I posted this in the ECAC Final Four thread but I figured I'd post it here too: Just a little update on the bus/free ticket situation. People can sign up until Thursday (sign-ups started yesterday) and there are currently 20 students signed up for 100 spots...I'm really hoping it gets filled up but again, it's tough since we must vacate the dorms by Friday at the latest. I guarantee you that if school was in session, they would need more than 100 spots.

There has never been a bigger buzz on campus about the hockey team than there is right now (the second most is maybe right after the 1/16 RPI game this year where the rink was 300-400 people over capacity and we jumped to #7 in the PWR). For once, I'm not the only one talking about Union hockey.

I will try to have an update on the total number of tickets bought through the Union Box office (non-students) by Thursday just so we know what to expect.

I would actually disagree with you. Kinkaid got you where you are. Ride him as far as you can. Sure it's a big stage, but if he can handle the season, let him play it out.

I hadn't heard anything about Wakita. I did see that John Simpson was helped off the ice but I think he returned. Zajac apparently dislocated his shoulder and according to the coach, he had it popped back in and returned to the game.

Hey UnionHockeyManiac, will you be calling the box office today regarding ticket sales? That's a great idea!

Hey everyone-

The live blog will be going legit for Albany. As in not on the message board where you have to keep hitting refresh. Brian Sullivan and I will be live-blogging all four games from Albany with CoverItLive. You will be able to link to it from USCHO.

In other news, I just got a report on how many tickets were sold through the Union box office and I'm not too happy.

Because of spring break, only about 50 students will be there.
There were about 125 tickets sold to faculty and staff.
There were about 425 tickets sold through the Union box office (which I think accounts for the two sections Union is given)

I was hoping 2,000 fans from Union would be there. The numbers above add up to 600 tickets...I hope a lot of people bought them directly through the Times Union Center...If not, we could be in for a little disappointment. We have to be loud!

We ordered our ECAC tickets last November. I'm not sure how many Union fans go to the tournament regardless of who's playing, but we'll be there in Section 119. We'll be bringing our cowbells (hopefully the TUC won't confiscate them!!)

I know your coach still hasn't said who he's starting. All I say is, if you want to go far, don't make the same mistake we made against State at the GLI.

Kinkaid is your go-to guy. He has gotten you this far. Yes, he's young, but guess what, this is EVERY player's first time at the big stage of the league championship on that team. Focus on what got you there. Use it to your advantage.
