UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

New Glarus' Totally Naked is as easy drinking as it is interestingly named. Try that for local brew.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Safe travels to all the Hosers making the trip out West. Bring back some fine cheeses, good beverages, and the severed head of Brett Favre (he won't survive that Lambeau crowd). Catch you next weekend at the Whitt/Tsongas.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

New Glarus is probably our best local micro brewery and they have a number of exceptional selections. But if you want something a little more obscure and arguably better, find yourself some Lake Louie.

MMMMmmmmmm....

Denver goalie just got cut by a skate blade and they're having to quickly cut through his pad to stop it from bleeding. On FSN mountain or one of those. Hope he's okay.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

So Brenden Smith had a couple of screw ups tonight, the second of which resulted in a shorthanded 2 on O and their only goal.

Did anyone else notice his reception from Oz when he got to the bench after the first mess up? I could see it all the way up from my(front row baby!) seats in 204.

Body language can say so much and it was utter frustration and Oz's body stance and stare was saying, "Are you serious? Really? REALLY? After all the times we've talked about this? After all that, you make THAT play?"

We were giggling. Wish I had that on video.

Not here to criticize Smith, just thought the reaction was funny. We take the good with the bad with Brenden and I think when he figures it out, he'll be a beast.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Okay, I'll just keep talking to myself here...

I'm glad that no one booed Blake. He played pretty solid other than the giveaway that Davies(?) hit the crossbar on.

Hope we see Pavelski tomorrow. I would think that they'd try to get him in so close to his home.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Is it just me... or was it the fact that that was my first game in the old people section... (Boss gave me his tickets on the blueline in 121... freakin sweet!)

Stepans goal from the circle was the coolest sounding goal I have ever seen/heard... crowd was almost silent, you hear the stick hit the ice, puck hit the post, richochet in, and the crowd goes nuts. One of the coolest hockey moments I've seen in awhile, mainly for the little things.

Also, there was some chick next to us from florida who was visiting some other guy who liked the student chants, so she followed along pretty easily. All in all, a fun game!

All in all, a fun game!

I was in 121 and didn't particularly enjoy the game at all. :(

Glad to see the UNH uniforms made it to the game on Friday. Hoping the team shows up tonight. :p

Foster showed up. 47 saves is a lot. Score should have been much higher.

Agreed...this should have been a lot worse. If UNH can figure out how to play in the offensive zone I am certain Foster>Bennett.

And another bright note UW was 0-6 on the PP including the major.

In addition myself and the Mrs met some nice folks/fans from Wisconsin so all was not lost.

Fully agree (I think almost all of hockey east proved they can beat Bennett 2 years ago :p ). We just need to get some shots off.

Foster certainly played well, but that might have been his only shot at Bennett. So far, Wisconsin's had a rotation - Bennett on Fridays, and Gudmandson on Saturdays.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

I listened to the last 1.5 periods on the radio feed here in Waltham after returning from Watertown where Bentley came away with a 4-2 win over Mercyhurst. Sounded like the Cats were getting totally outplayed last night, but hoping that they can come back for a tie or win tonight, in which case I will give them lots of cred for "making adjustments."

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Podge, Grotting, and Bender had a good game last night. Stepan is a special player. Davies had a huge check in the first period, which really sent a message I think to UNH about the way the Badgers were going to play last night. UW looked really quick last night won the vast majority of the races to the puck and it showed in the shot totals.

Now tonight we will see if they can keep that tempo for two nights.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

I'm back in WI after a week in Manchester. I enjoyed listening to the UNH radio guys on AM 610. They do a pretty good job. I'm sure UHN will come out ready tonight. Hopefully UW can sustain the effort for a 2nd game in a row. They didn't follow up the great Friday night in Mankato with a very impressive effort, or a very smart one when it counted anyway.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Congratulations to the Badgers on playing two great games against the Wildcats. Despite our personal disappointment in the results of these games my wife and I had a great time, met some good people, and enjoyed some of the local cuisine.

Attending the annual Freakfest last night was a real eye opener. What a party.

Back to Hockey.....after seeing UW and Miami play this year I would give the edge to UW at this point in the season. Unless your goalie Bennett has improved a lot since his days at BU he could be the achilles heel for you. On the other hand if you continue to hold teams to 15 shots or less he should be fine. I think somebody needs to convince him to stay closer to the net or his roaming will eventually burn you.

Again thanks for a great time and good luck.....certainly would love to play you again this spring and make a better game of it.
