UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Hope everyone has a fun weekend, safe trip to my fellow UNH'ers. Met some really cool Wisconsin fans last year, and had a great time in 2002 in Milwaukee for the Badger Showdown...

Hoping to get copies of the games on DVD, as I don't think either of them will be shown out here

I didn't see any TV listing at all.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

Will Kessel be booed?

I hope Pavelski gets to play.

I will say NO; he'll get cheered especially if the announcer states, "At defence from Madison......."

I'm sure many Badger fans didn't know about Blake, although he was known in the "hockey community". Phil was high profile. He played with one of the best youth programs in the nation in Madison, went on to the NTDP, and was a very high (#5) NHL draft pick. First and foremost, he was a high scoring forward. Losing him to Minnesota was a sore subject and he was booed every time he touched the puck.

Blake was under the radar around here and is a defenceman; they don't get the same "pub" even though he puts up points. He also played AAA in Madison and in the USHL, but was drafted #166 in 2007 (NYI). I'm not even sure if Blake was recruited by Eaves, (I never asked him or family; none of my business). If we didn't recruit Blake, I'm guessing Eaves had a sour taste in his mouth after losing Phil to Rodentsota.

I think there will be a tape delay of the game on Wisconsin Public Television as the only TV coverage.

I don't think Blake will be booed. He's had a much different approach to things than his brother.

Question for the UNH folks. I'm actually in Manchester this week for work thru Friday. Too bad the game isn't out here. Will I be able to get the Friday night game on the radio out here?

I find I get FM 96.? (I think 7) pretty well in the Manchester Area. I wish I could tell you the number but I always hunt. I never listen to the station for anything else.

There are normally a number of other outlets on the AM side that it is on also but that is spotty (like most AM).

From the UNH website: "The Wildcat Sports Radio Network provides UNH game coverage to fans and alumni throughout the entire state of New Hampshire, and even beyond the state's borders. Game action can be heard on the following stations all season long: WGIR-AM 610 (Manchester); WQSO-FM 96.7 (Portsmouth); WGIN-AM 930 (Rochester); WUVR-AM 1490 (Lebanon); WNTK-FM 99.7 (New London) and WCNL-AM 1010 (Newport)."

Your best bet is 610 AM (should come in pretty clear everywhere in the city). As JB said, 96.7 FM should come in pretty well, too.

Wish I could be there this weekend - had a great time watching Wisco in Milwaukee back in 2006. I hope the 'Cats do better in Madison than they did in Minnesota last year.

We do too. Next trip. :) Hopefully we come back with a fun new dance or cheer.

610 is garbage at my house. But I am not in city.

That's interesting. It's 96.7, the wave, out of Dover; I find that once I get home to Raymond, the Mill (96.5) and 96.7 bleed over each other. I have better luck with the AM stations, at home.

Or, the free internet radio at unhwildcats.com

Tonight's game is on TWC Sports in Milwaukee - I'd guess that means it's on somewhere live in Madison as well. The MPTV webpage shows a tape delay both nights, too (I thought they didn't show hockey on Saturdays while the football team was home, but I guess that's not true).

I don't think they show delayed football since the Big Ten Network d*****bags came into existence...could be wrong.

Hockey is live in Madison Friday on digital channel 3.2 (TVW which you can get over the air, Charter Cable, or DirecTV , NO DishNet). Saturday night it's on WISC channel 3.1 available everywhere!

Tape delayed on the WI Channel both nights.

With lousy weather & temps dropping, the Kohl Center SHOULD be packed, but I wouldn't count on it. I haven't been impressed with the fans the past couple of years.

Re: UNH @ Wisconsin, Oct. 30-31

At least it's raining....don't have to shovel it.
Weird...yesterday they said the high today would be in the low 50's.

Reality sets in Sat & Sun.... highs in the 40's. Screw Muskie fishing, I'm going to the Camp.

Hey SPCSMAN, you were looking for something to do...my always-late-falling- Norway Maples are crapping yellow leaves ankle deep in my back yard...whaddya think?

MCR, thanks for the offer to participate in a local ritual. Regretfully I have to pass on this one. Family members are dragging me out to try some local cuisine and adult beverages. Any recommendations for the local brews?

FWIW...I will have plenty of raking to do when I return home.

Capital Brewery (near Madison) has their MANY products available all over. I like Wisconsin Amber and the Island Wheat. The I.W. uses WI wheat grown on Door County's Washington Island.

New Glarus Brewery (Monroe) has many; the most popular is Spotted Cow. Some like Fat Squirrel...not me.

The Great Dane Pub & Brewery has a nice place downtown. I don't really have a favorite there, but don't ask for a Bud :o .

I'm sure others will add offer their opinions, try them all!
