UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

What started out to be a promising game 2 for the Cats is now turning into a complete chitshow

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

No discipline at all by UNH, which not that long ago was one of the least penalized teams in Div 1. Clark should be relieved that he is not facing this debacle night in and night out. UNH being out shot 23-11 after two should mean a 2 or 3 goal lead for the Cats, rather than down 3-2. But, cannot blame any goalie for giving up three PPG, with one 5 on 3.

Never say die. Cats score 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd to win 6-3!! Goals by Cleland, Thrush, Kelleher and an empty netter from Willows!

Nice win for the good Cats!! Thank you. UVM fans are insufferable!!

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

Umile must have given a Bradyesque locker room speech about honor before the third?

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

Oh I'm sure that was it. That's what the season has been lacking to this point...Umile giving the team a HockeyRef type pep talk during the second intermission...:p

Yeah, and it's working out just wonderfully so far isn't it? Textbook case of over-coaching.

Asking Tirone to carry the team as a mid-season frosh (which is a HUGE ask) only adds pressure, and his confidence has likely been shaken ... while Clark (having had the same task thrust on him this Fall) must wondering exactly what he's done wrong.

Sad but true, the Tirone bandwagon has emptied out pretty quickly. And all of this was just SO avoidable ...

I'm not buying this, Chuck. Over-coaching? Is it possible that Umile wants more of a look at Tirone, given that Clark has seen 1100+ minutes in 21 games vs. Tirone's 471 over 8 games? Especially during the late season, a season in which we have "nothing to play for", according to some here. In fact, the thread title suggests that the season was over before it started.

Has anyone on this thread talked to Umile and confirmed that Tirone is "the guy"? Or are we guessing his motives?

Three things that I'd guess to be true, but again, since I'm not in their heads, i'm not going to claim these as fact:

1. Tirone's confidence has not been shaken.
2. Tirone doesn't feel like he's been asked to carry the team
3. Clark doesn't feel like he's been cast off.

These are two goalies, who, going into the night, had IDENTICAL GAA's (2.93 vs. 2.92) and save percentages (.894/.900). I for one don't believe that Umile has made a choice - I think it's a chance to get an extended look, the way he had with Clark earlier.

In the end, I'm pretty certain that we don't have two goalies with fragile psyches on the verge of shattering due to poor coaching. Pretty sure they are a couple of tough kids looking forward to their careers together.

My two cents.

Danny Tirone was sharp tonight, especially in the third period.

These are pretty much my thoughts, and as I have posted before, it could be all about what Umile sees during PRACTICE.

That's really cool that Umile let you into the locker room during the second intermission to give your speech, Ref.

Did anyone see Grayson Downing getting hurt, either in person or on the online stream? What happened? I couldn't see from my vantage point.
