Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

I listened to the entire game on radio during my drive north last night, lucking out by finding the broadcast on two different stations.

Poturalski had 7 SOG for his 2 G; he is putting together some fine first-year stats. Yeah, I know, he is not Johnny Gaudreau or the BU kid this season.

Tirone could have had a shut out, but for the two PPGs late in the second when the Cats played some 5-3 PK (both PPGs were one man down). I realize that many here want to see an every other game rotation, but I would rather see a winning goalie get rewarded with consecutive starts until losing, which will still give both goalies plenty of opportunities, as no one expects that the Cats will run the table from here out.

I am with you on this one...but will not be surprised if that isn't the case. Bottom line is ND doesn't want to get swept at their barn I imagine and it will remain to be seen if UNH can come out firing with no let down...No better time than the present tho! I see Boyd is getting the nudge on the blue line...he can be in the box a lot but they do seem to like him. Portularaski...excellent rookie season! Go 'Cats!!

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

Last night's lines signal a shift to producing offensively by grouping next year's players together. Since break there has not been a senior line, last night we saw Thrush-Downing-Willows. Camper was on line 4 doing what he does well with McD and Gaudreault. The 2nd and 3rd lines are the future. A 100% healthy Foegele replacing Hill with Smith and Eiserman obviously worked well. It looks like Poturalski's goals came during line changes with 3 of 4 assists from non-seniors. Andrew had 7 SOGs which likely means his line mates were setting him up well. With last night's production, line 1 will likely be intact tonight, probably the others as well. Psyched to see the game in HD on NBC(sn) the home of the desperate Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Was Maller a healthy scratch?

Did you see what happened to Gaudreault, Darius? Serious injury?

No! First I heard of it. I only "watched" the live HEA Score Board and Live Box Score, listened to 1st and 2nd radio intermission replays. Bummer.

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

On the television I was watching, among other games, UML @ Merrimack and their goaltender Rasmus Tirronen from Espoo, Finland. His last team was Topeka (NAHL) which gave schools a chance to scout him without trans Atlantic flights. Watching Rasmus stand on his head and thinking of other past (VT's Stahlbergs) and current (BU's Ahti Oksanen) HEA players from abroad I got to wondering, with UNH's focus in diversity and attracting international students, if there might be some synergy between hockey recruiting and admissions.

For a minute there I thought he had played last night but just checked the line sheet and he's not listed. Someone I know who was at the game saw him in the stands...healthy scratch? Did you hear Dan P talk about him being injured? News to me...

And did he ever stand on his head, what, 51 saves? Watched that BU player as well; he's excellent. Kind of looking forward to playing BU, you know, with the Eichel thing and all...That is a great question..and sounds like a great place to look for future 'cruits...

4th line center between Camper and McD, all with 0s/E on the game sheet.

?? Now I am losing it. Too much Netflix last couple of days. Never mind. Ok, yup he did indeed play, here's the proof: Faceoff Maxim Gaudreault vs Peter Schneider won by ND. So much for my 'source' in the stands?

More so each week. A fun team to watch. If they show up full throttle for 60 minutes and don't come down with a case of the stupids like they did against BC, they are the best team in the country. Their problem is they are a top team nationally while playing seriously for < 20 minutes/game.

Radio guys said that he got injured, causing Umile to make some line changes that included Downing double shifting for a while. So, maybe Gaudreault was in the stands during the third period

Darius, I cannot recall any Euro players at UNH, but some may come to my mind eventually. I remember when the River Hawks had a bunch of Finns, which had UML near the top of Div 1 until they missed three weeks playing for their national team, perhaps an Olympic year?

-Same D pairs
-DT gets the start (There ya go Snively65)

Completely agree. And even more so tonight with Mcnicholas and Salvaggio getting into the lineup. Not to mention sticking with the hot hand and giving Tirone the start again. Looks like the coaching staff has finally decided to move their focus on to building for next year.

AS for Maller I seem to recall hearing that he has been injured on the radio broadcast last night, but I have no proof to back that up.

Re: UNH Wildcats Official Wait til Next Year...14/15 thread

I get that ND pays NBC a lot to love them... Even so, the commentary tonight has my blood pressure up. Way up. *growl*

Did I hear correctly that the team has to bus it home?

Due to bad weather all flights out are cancelled tomorrow so they are on a 15 hr. bus ride... UNH fans and the radio team is stranded as well. Gonna be a long ride home.

So ... now do you go back to Clark again until he loses?

Sure, I say if somehow our Cats and Clark beat the Hippie Cats on Friday night, give Clark the start the next night as well.

Bummer about the team having to bus it home for 15 hours, especially after a loss. Maybe most of the players can have two seats? Notre Dame pays for these flights and bus trips, right? Why have the Fighting Irish not moved to another conference already?
