UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

Yeah...I got that. I read the article...my point was just my point. Not really a 'whoosh' but whatever at this point! These 'mass exodus' events...doubt we'd ever see that at the U.

Yeah, it's not an option, given how the current team has been constructed over the last 4+ seasons. But it might be something for the next guy to consider, if MS7 doesn't get things jump-started in a couple more seasons. Carvel's actions may have been harsh to some, but you can't knock his results. Even if they do fall short - which I still think they will - it won't be because the guy at the top was afraid to make some tough decisions. Fortune favors the brave/bold/decisive, as they say. :)

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

FIXED YOUR POST!

UML (aka ML): done
Providence (aka PC): done

Yeah, but Providence looks like they'll be OK (barely) to make the big tourney still.

Sadly, it looks like the "Bazin Invitational" tees off tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. sharp at Four Oaks. :(

Not sure about that yet. With Quinnipiac out now, if Brown or Union win the ECAC tourney that knocks out #16. Plus the other leagues. Being at #14 is very precarious with the tourneys still to come.

I get your point, but even if it's close, PC likely gets the #16 as a recent past winner, strong second half, and a 3rd HE team. All due respect to BU (and BC), I think they've maxed out getting to where they've gotten, and I'd expect the Saturday Finals to be UMass vs. NU. I don't see either BU or BC being capable of beating those two teams back to back ... and I don't see both UMass and NU losing in the semis. A LOT of tourney underdogs will have to have a LOT of success next weekend to leave PC home. JMHO.

So you seem to be intimating that the committee won't go "strictly" by the PWR? ("PC likely gets the #16") If so, that would be a departure from recent years.

I've always assumed there was some wiggle room on the cusp if called for. We'll see … but yeah, short of another HE team winning the tourney (BU/BC) I'd be stunned if only 2 HE teams made the field. Not that they deserve more than 3 this year … but even 4 could theoretically happen. Look at the PWR, and the teams just above Providence have all crashed out too, except for NICC and Penn State, who just happen to face each other next weekend in the Big Ten tourney. So PC looks pretty good ...

Well it will certainly be interesting. For me, it's completely simplified - win or go home. :)

(...or play golf...which is something I am getting anxious to do right about now anyway...)

Yup. Not-so-veiled reference to their "dedicated" fan base not-so-coincidentally emerging at around the same exact time that a top-ranked team began generating headlines in Western MA.

I need to know more about those "WAGON" sweatshirts, Kieron. Needed those back in the day. :D

Back in the day, our fanbase fit in a small handcart - But "HANDCART" doesn't look great on a Tee Shirt :p

JvR ties the game!!

JvR's 25th goal of season, in 56 games; 10 more games to reach 30, I think. JvR has now played in 665 NHL games, with 226 goals and 209 assists for 435 points.

Middle bro TvR is 2+11=13 points in 67 NHL games this season, 13+47=60 points in 304 games for his NHL career.

I am pulling for BvR to put together a huge senior season, our only four-year vR bro.

You and me both brother, you and me both...no truer words. Is it Oct yet?? :D

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

Who had Brady Keeper in the "what Hockey East sophomore defenseman will Florida sign and put in the NHL once the season ends" pool?

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

Works for me, 'Watcher. It would be nice to see one more year out of this year's D-corps ...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

I totally spaced that Brady Keeper was also a Panther draftee, despite having followed the Maine threads the past couple of seasons; possible great news for the Cats blue line next season. Both Keeper and Gildon put up nearly identical numbers for their respective teams the past two seasons, although Keeper racked up 60% more penalty minutes with Gendron's apparent lack of discipline. Also, Keeper is almost three full years older than Gildon.

Same...if it keeps Gildon here with us for one more, more than happy to congratulate Brady Keeper!! ;) 'Course, the week's not over yet!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2018-2019: Souza the Opportunity or Louza the Opportunity

Before this thread comes to its near end, I wish to thank our graduating seniors for an entertaining four years, despite less team success than what many of us fans had hoped to see. Thanks, Ara Nazarian, Marcus Vela, Richard Boyd, Chris Miller, and Frankie Cefaku. I am assuming that Matt Dawson will be back from a red shirt year. My best wishes to all of our seniors for success in their future careers, whether hockey-related or not. I, for one, am opportunistic about our men's hockey program going forward.

Whomever makes the last post, make it a great one! :-)
