The situation is kind of cloudy - Holy Cross would need a larger rink to be accepted into the Hockey East. Playing in the DCU Center sounds like a no brainer but the new ECHL Worcester Railers team who is committed to playing there DO NOT want HC playing there as they see it as a competitor for the ever tightening hockey consumer dollar and a magnitude of scheduling conflicts. So essentially HC doenst have a facility that would meet the HE criteria. Having the Womens hockey program moving to HE is a good step but it doesnt guarantee the mens program will be heading to HE anytime soon.

Really? AHL Thunderbirds did not have any problem sharing the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield with the AIC Yellow Jackets, who played a lot of Tuesday and Thursday night games there this past season.

Agree it probably won't be happening until the end of the decade at the earliest. But it will happen. And frankly, it makes sense. That's still the second largest city in New England (I think so anyway?), and HC has the most high profile athletic programs of their many colleges, with the most tradition. Not that there's a huge hockey tradition in town, but we just got rid of a program with jack squat hockey tradition that is literally located closer to Oklahoma City than to Boston, and is about 300 miles closer to the D-1 hotbed of Huntsville AL than Boston. Worcester will do just fine, thank you. :)

Weren't the UConn Women in Hockey East for a decade or so before the Men were asked to join?

Ticket prices will be same as last year. Though I think it would be wiser to lower the cost, they are optimistic about the 2017-2018 product on the ice. They will be entertaining other options next year (hopefully reducing prices) with possible employee all sports passes with hockey and football tickets and a card to get into all games. They may include local residents as well. If you are a UNH grad, UNH employee or Durham/Madbury/Lee resident it will be $307. It will be $350-360 for others with discounts for youth tickets and group tickets. Holy Cross in Hockey East? Second Largest City for city limits is Worcester Chuck, but Providence and Hartford are probably larger hubs including suburbs. It makes some sense and will keep our travel costs down if they are added to HE.

Great job by Dick Umile to help him develop, recognizing that Foegele would get too big a head if he played over Maxim Gaudreault and Colin MacDonald, and that his skills would best develop on the 3rd line.

Between Foegele and Hobey Hatrick Vecchione, two kids getting NHL deals, one can see the venerable Dick's skill in fostering immensive motivational power to drive the players. To quote Marty Scarano, we're bringing back the guy who destroyed the winning culture, so that the new coach who is expressly tasked with "re-building" and "changing that culture" will have a further year to try and change the culture.
"Coach Umile and I spoke about how this next season will be spent continuing the effort to re-build UNH hockey into a national caliber program that competes in the NCAA tournament and the Frozen Four," Scarano said. "That has been, and always will be, our aspiration. We are fortunate to have Mike Souza here changing the culture in recruiting and gaining more invaluable experience to become the 14th head coach of UNH hockey at the completion of the 2017-18 season."

It's great to see Warren, in his final overage season in the OHL, reaching some of the potential I (and many others) witnessed in his senior season at St. Andrew's College:

After a solid freshman campaign at UNH (34 games, 5 goals, 11 assists), his development stalled at the beginning of his sophomore year (5 games, 0 goals, 1 assist, 8 shots on goal). Here's who he played with in those 5 games:
AIC - 3rd line, Foegele-Vela-Eiserman
St. L - 3rd line, Foegele-Vela-Hill
Clark - 4th line, Foegele-Nazarian-Hill
UMass & Union - 3rd line, Foegele-Nazarian-Miller

Was the falloff in performance due to frustration over not playing with other top forwards like Poturalski or Kelleher and/or not getting enough power play time? Were there off-ice challenges?

Whatever the reasons, he went from one of the younger players in Hockey East to one of the older players in the OHL when he transferred to the Kingston Frontenacs. As this article explains, Foegele's development really took off when they moved him from left wing to center between two other top prospects - he had never played center in his career:

Carolina was very pleased by the development of his skills at center (e.g., winning faceoffs) but they decided he should play one more year in the OHL this past season. That decision has paid off handsomely for Warren. Carolina hopes he will continue his upward trajectory next season in the AHL and maybe the NHL.

I was pleased to see that he had received that recognition and has continued to show that he is indeed, (and I had no doubt before) an excellent hockey player. He has really had the chance to develop and Carolina has indeed noticed with a hefty signing bonus/contract (looked at it today prior to reading this post). Onward Warren...hope you find tremendous success!!!

I am listening to Dave Goucher do play by play on Westwood One radio for Predators-Ducks game two in which he said Ducks fans threw a big ugly catfish onto the ice BEFORE the game began; anyone see it? Whassup wid' 'dat? Goucher did not mention the fish toss tradition at UNH.
