Yeah that's how I feel too. I don't mind watching but I just can't make myself do the research.
But I always do this bit of research after each season. The old what are we losing and how might we look toward next year game. I always want to know what percentage of our scoring we are losing and how did the remaining classes do, and then speculation for the future.
Seniors - G A P
18 42 60

Juniors - G A P
24 31 54

Sophs. - G A P
24 31 54

Fresh - G A P
23 47 70

Initial thoughts? Very even distribution of goal scoring.
Only losing 27% of total points and 20% of goals. Unusually low!
What if PG was healthy?
Annual totals the lowest in years. Need Dan's 2 big guns to be found before August.

Then we can title next season's thread "The Guns of August"

Thanks for doing the heavy lifting on these stats, ATW. Much lower points percentage from seniors than what we lost after last season, which is one reason why I think that we cannot do worse than three or four other HEA teams next season. Hey, despite the incompetence at all levels, and the worst record in Div 1 hockey over the final three months, we only dropped to 52nd in PWR and could have earned home ice in the MBPBEGAM round had we won just two additional games after semester break.

We should invite Mookie...would he travel to cowhampsha??? ;) I personally like simple contests, like, who's gonna win the HE? :)

Might be a long flight. He took a job overseas (Asia/Middle East). They have problems with ice there too... :D

Way, way too much info, maybe approaching HR's feared "word problem on the math exam." These two parts of the contest pertain only to the HEA championship games. Chuck and mookie essentially determined the lowest percentage wins by teams in those games, shared by the three teams that are 0-1, so 0.000% (or, 0%, nada, nil, zero 0%) wins. Some simple math involved in calculating the team with the highest winning percentage in those HEA championship games. Yes, I added a strong hint earlier, too. :-)

Ok, time's up. Looks like 1 point (4 oz beer) will be left on table. Given that mookie is now in Middle East and/or Asia, and probably would not come to Libby's for his 0.5 point award (2 oz beer) anyway, Chuck inherits that 0.5 point for a total of 3 points (12 oz beer).

NU has the highest win percentage at 100% in HEA championship games (2 for 2, fairly simple math). BU is next at 72.7% (8 for 11, a bit more difficult math), followed by BC at 64.7% (11 for 17, again a bit more difficult math). Rounding out the others, PC at 50% (2 for 4), Maine at 42.9% (5 for 14), UML at 35.7% (3 for 7), and UNH at 25% (2 for 8), along with the aforementioned Mac, Flagship, and UVM (thanks, mookie) at 0% (0 for 1). And, yes, despite more success than some other HEA teams, UNH really has stunk in the big games during the Umile era.

With the 34th HEA tourney coming up, there is the strong possibility that we might see a change at the top end of these win percentages. :-)

Wow really tells the tale of the tape/season. Considering a player like TyK has a 50 pt Senior year. Yep big guns are desperately needed...

Please let the UNH recruiting thread either be "A Distant Mirror" or "The March of Folly."

Barbara Tuchman's posthumous masterpiece!

Just to put this year's senior class in perspective, TyK had 63 points (24G+39A) and Cleland had 36 points (3G+33A) their senior year. Wow, I sure miss watching them play, and overall that 2016-17 was bad, just not as bad as this past year's team.

Not allowed to post this one on the new thread with no looking back rules, but how about that JvR pocketing five goals so far this week, including a 🎩 trick, to put himself over 30 goals on the season?

Looking back weekend update on JvR who now has 35 goals on season with eight games left.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2017/2018 - Umile's Last Stand - The Grand Finale

So Chuck, has the torch passed to Motzko or Schafer?

Re: UNH Wildcats 2017/2018 - Umile's Last Stand - The Grand Finale

Neither lends itself to a pithy phrase. Umiliation kind of rolls of the tongue.

Edit: Rolled. Past-tense! Yay. Progress.

Schafer ran into a red hot BU team (7-0-2), longest unbeaten streak in the country currently. Now I don't follow St. Cloud much (except for this time of year), but their loss seems inexplicable. Especially the way Air Force started the game yesterday (ZERO shots on goal in the first period - they were completely dominated). St. Cloud didn't seem ready to play and Motzko had that blank look on his face as if he didn't have a clue what to do to change that.

So my fictitious, hypothetical vote is for Motzko. :D

It can't be both? No one in their right mind would have bet on Cornell, St Cloud, that was a pure gag job

Wasn't just basing y question on this year, although its obviously a big part of it. I agree, St.Cloud seems to have more in common with UNH than Cornell. But my God, when was the last time Schafer won an NCAA game? I didn't bother to look it up but it seems like forever. And lets face it Dick Umile OWNED Mike Shafer in the NCAA's. Think about that for a minute.
