Re: UNH Wildcats 2016 Offseason Thread - Searching for Direction

Tort's was added to PC's coaching staff on Wednesday as a volunteer assistant.

Interesting. So now Leaman has pretty much re-assembled the UNH assistant's staff from a few short years ago at PC.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm ...

Chuck, why does this make you go hmmmmmmmmmm? Leaman now has the two UNH assistants who assisted in the downgrade of the program while they were her. I guess you could say we'll find out if their talents were offset by Umile's or if their talents will be offset by Leaman's. Btw, I though Tortorella left hockey to work at a substance abuse recovery center in Portland. Did I have that wrong?

You ask "why?" ... and then you go on to list two of the reasons why it makes one go hmmmmm ...

Maybe next time before you post, you have a cup of coffee before - not during - your first post. :D :p ;)

Who knows - *maybe* Torts cleaned up the mean streets of Portland, and got bored? I'd say they "made him an offer he couldn't refuse" ... but volunteer assi$tant? Doubt it. Hmmmmm ...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2016 Offseason Thread - Searching for Direction

Maybe we can use this for the "grumpy old men" thread, and let the season thread bask in the warm glow of optimism?

Not saying I won't mess the other one up at some point too (almost inevitable).

Ironically, maybe as the program gropes for direction, we'll have a little more direction/focus on here. :)

You can take Torts out of the mean streets of Portland, but you cannot take hockey out of Torts, or something like that?

Oh, stop...I'm sure we will have plenty of angst over on the other thread...wouldn't be a UNH hockey season without it! :D And, do stop by from time to time...you know you want to.

This thread will be the backup for all things that go awry this season?

I thought you guys would just revive the fire Dick Umile thread again for that purpose. Figure it's gotta come back before Christmas right?

If UNH doesn't chow down on the cupcakes lined up pre-Christmas, yes ... but I think they'll manage just fine.

It's the part about winning in-conference games that's got me concerned ...

Naw, the FDU thread simply was not sustainable, like most Fire XXXX threads. We still have 200+ available posts on this thread to cover such angst.

Well, there's one cupcake left uneaten on the table then. Thankfully though UNH carried the day on the critical SOG stats.

In fact, one of the strongest endorsements of the Chuck Murray SOG hypothesis that we have seen yet. Not sure about e.cat, but I am beginning to think that there maybe something to this SOG hypothesis. But, naw, it was just one freaky game tonight.

Listening to Farrell today is like listening to DU and BS35+4.

SOG certainly a misleading stat in this one but I have to give some credit to Argue. I think he made some good stops. I'm thinking of a one-timer Eiserman rifled at Argue off the faceoff. Admitedly right into Argue's chest I think but a good positional stop.
