Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

OK so with all of the discussion over the last couple of days, I'm now asking myself the following question:

"What motivation does Souza have to bring in a hidden gem this season or next?"
Well for one thing it shut a lot of us up. and they'd be upperclassmen in his program!

I can't even imagine he would look for anything less NOW, or in a year from now, or in 2! Like I said...he's building teams for UNH first, him, second. I'm sure that's well understood....(speculating as best as the rest here with the exception of those 'in the know'. Seriously, he's looking to win a NC and that path begins NOW.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

I believe he's out there selling two things: The storied history of the past/facilities etc but most of all, that he is the HC that recruit will play for. I foresee good things!

I gotta believe UNH is a relatively easy sell!

No doubt. :) But he's been on the job now for over six months, and his next recruit will be his first, no?

Hey, I want him to get it right, and quality over quantity for sure. But he's gotta start somewhere ...

Whether recruited by Souza or Stewart, Matt Dawson and Eric MacAdams (2017) have committed to UNH since Borek left for Providence.

I like what I have seen from Matt Dawson so far this season, but I admit that I thought that our D would be overall a lot better than it has been this year.

Regarding our D...I thought they looked much better this past game against UML...esp the play of Dylan Maller. For a change we didn't get stuck in our own zone forever, they were able to skate it out at least, those were my observations! Cam Marks has had a tough season due to injury but I look for him to improve. Thank goodness for the pick up of Matt D this summer. He's worked hard to make the adjustment to D1 hockey. Given the loss of JM we were fortunate to get him into the fold. D is the big priority in recruiting (duh) ...hope we land some good ones!

We have a chance to earn 4 HE points this weekend against NU (and kudos for them for their sweep of the Skating Saints this weekend) IF we can play solid hockey. A sweep of the Huskies would be a huge momentum builder going into the following weekend against everybody's fav team, NICC :D:p Anyone up for a 'Cats v Dogs game thread?

True. I missed on that one. :o I think Dawson has proven to be a pretty good catch. Four year player too. :)

I was thinking yeah, sounds great ... but then I figured there's enough on my plate, and I trust you guys implicitly and explicitly, so I'll let someone else do it for me.

... if you're catching my drift ... ??? ;)

Ok Chuck, it's done, and, I fully expect you to participate... :D

Not so enamored any longer with game threads; UNH -UVM did not generate any posts from the other Cat(amount) fans, and UNH-UMO went overboard, with most posts belonging on either team's season threads, imho.

NU dumped formerly ranked St L all the way down to 21st in PWR; NICC ranked 12th in PWR, so picking up 8 points in next two weekends could be tough. However, we are ranked 6th in PWR for HEA teams, with the top five in the NCAAs as of today, so huge opportunity for our Cats to step up.

OK ... well, maybe ... y'know, I'm not any good at starting threads, and others do it better than I do anyway.

I'll participate, but only in a token way. I'm good at delegating that stuff. Gotta save my best for game day. :D

p.s. - ok, which one of you jokers broke into my wardrobe and stole all my turtlenecks???

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Not to rehash a previously debated issue, but if bomber is correct, that Scarano told Borek and Stewie a national search would be conducted to replace Umile, then either Scarano lied or bomber got the story wrong ? For some reason I think bomber got the story right!

Now you're getting warm. Scarano has not covered himself with glory in a few matters since he came to UNH 15 years ago. But, remarkably, he probably is still the best AD UNH has ever had.

BTW, e cat. Let's try and keep politics out of this forum. There is enough vitriol being spewed in other places. I'd like to see USCHO remain an oasis of relative calm over the next several months.

Deleted the NU/UNH game thread...figure if people wanna talk about the game, they will. Should be a decent weekend and am pulling for a sweep. Might be the last chance to do such a thing this season so what the hey. With NU surging a bit, it won't be easy. Go 'Cats!

Had NU fans not posted anything?
