Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

OK what happened then? You can trust us to keep it quiet in our little corner of the universe ... :)

Ha ha yeah no one reads the UNH forum anyway right? It's all good just felt the games really weren't that important after all not much interest and felt it was foolish to post it in the first place. :p I mean UNH v NU? Not exactly the game of the week. BC v BU? Now that...seems much more deserving. Not that we could use the 4 points in HE and all...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Now you're getting warm. Scarano has not covered himself with glory in a few matters since he came to UNH 15 years ago. But, remarkably, he probably is still the best AD UNH has ever had.

BTW, e cat. Let's try and keep politics out of this forum. There is enough vitriol being spewed in other places. I'd like to see USCHO remain an oasis of relative calm over the next several months.

'Tis the season Greg but far be it from me to stir the pot;) Several years ago I asked you to keep religion off limits and you did honor that request so I will honor your request. Should be an interesting NH Primary though. Nuff said!

Well, I do not know about that; we should have two Hobey candidates, and NU fans think that they have one, and even named their season thread after him. BC? A goalie named Thatcher? BU? ???

Speaking of Hobey candidates, when is that coming out? I agree; we do have 2 great skaters in Pots and TyK. Is their Roy back on the ice? Read he was injured but not sure of his status. Guess we'll find out. Should be two competitive games.

Yikes, I did not realize that Hobey Roy Kenobi had missed 10 games; no wonder the Huskies have not yet won a HEA game.

If our first line cannot light up the lamp a few times against the NU goaltenders this weekend, then our season may be over.

Political science major here, steeped in political discussion since I was a little kid. But I've found that being a "know it all" on college hockey does come with the same set of consequences as it does with politics or religion.

Warren Foegele - Kingston Frontenacs OHL
GP - 26
Points: 26 (Goals - 5, Assists - 21)

Maybe Souza can find and recruit kids like this and get them to come to UNH? :-)

Bracketology. Selection Sunday. Someday, hopefully sooner than later, we will be excited for these things. Are we totally out (I know we'd have to win HE to get an at large bid). Besides winning every single one of our upcoming games, what would have to happen (besides winning HE, see above) to get into the NCAA's? Just pondering. Making conversation.

Hey HR! Methinks there is zero chance of a bid save for us winning the HE tourney, period. I think our focus needs to be on securing home ice, and taking our chances from there. And by "chances", I mean that we need a scalding hot goalie and the Pots line goes ballistic for a multi-game run.

A sincere thanks, BTW, for getting the focus back on the ice....

Hey right back atcha! I pretty much figured that we'd have to do the impossible to get in but you never know I 'spose. Looking forward to see how we do this weekend. Hoping for a sweeeepppp!!! And you will be at the NIIC games weekend after this one right? Cool! Thinking daughter and I will be doing Libby's before the game on Sat. as our son gave us a gift cert there soooo... Kind of quiet on the 'Cats news front think everyone is healthy and they have to be motivated to grab these points and breakout of this two game losing 'streak'.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, "You can take the reservation, but the problem is you cannot hold the reservation. And, is not that the whole purpose in taking the reservation?"

Well as hard as it was so see him go, I'm glad he's thriving there. I am hoping that his former teammate and incoming UNH recruit Justin Fregona will find success at UNH....

Or, secure home ice AND a first round bye, which is certainly doable, says the perennial optimist. :-)

Atta boy Snively65...it starts THIS weekend go 'Cats!!! Reading the USCHO cover story about NU is interesting; tied QU, swept SLU so they def have some momentum. 'Cats, two game losing 'streak' but only by a goal, needs the 4 points..hope they are hungry coz I'm thinking the Huskies are!

That would be optimal - I think that almost demands 7-8 points the next two weekends to spur a run. I'd be happy with 4-5, keeping us top half of the bottom 8! (Man, now THAT is something to strive for!! 😄)

It's not like UNH is facing Providence and BC these next two weekends. Frankly, I'll be disappointed with anything less than 3 wins. I'll predict a win and a tie against NU, and a sweep of NICC.

The program - and this team - has to aim higher. Pretty good can't be good enough any more.

Agreed! That's why I see this weekend so important almost a statement weekend if you will in some ways. Should be a fun time at the Dog House tomorrow night Go 'Cats!'

Actually, I think that the "Doug House" is just the name for the student section at one end of Matthews (just do not call that section the "Dog Pound." ;)
