UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

BTW is it general knowledge that a current UNH player is sidelined for academic issues?

Well it's happened before. Stafford was given a coach's suspension (four games I think) second semester of his senior year because of his shoddy attitude towards academics. And who can forget Captain Joe Charlebois who was declared academically ineligible in his final semester?

And, Stafford missed the entire first semester of his senior year because "a summer course that he took in California did not transfer," or something like that, IIRC.

And, concerning outdoor hockey games, the only reason that I might have gone this year is because I have never been to Gillette for anything. But, I will be fine seeing my first hockey game at the Gutt on January 2nd. You could not pay me to see another hockey game at Fenway (well, maybe if you paid me a lot, I would go again).

So is that better or worse than being sidelined for allegedy throwing the national championship game? Not that its likely we will have to worry about that.

So true. And, we do not have a separate thread titled "Terrible Whittemore Attendance."

I've confessed before to feeling a little jealous of Providence, who (as well as they played last post-season) were likely going to come up short in the end, but for O'Connor's monster-sized gaffe, and some really bad d-zone coverage after a routine face-off. And now it turns out that some of that stuff ... may have been manufactured? Where to begin, really.

I'll believe it when I see the proof, but the fallout from such a situation would be monstrous.

I'll read the latest BU thread for more info, but with the USCHO article, it seems this is coming to the surface.

"WIS Fun Quiz" with a semi-point to be made today ...

When the Chicago White Sox (a/k/a the "Black Sox" scandal) infamously threw the World Series in 1919 ... which National League team was the beneficiary of their manufactured largesse??

try guessing without looking it up first. I'd say 90% of folks who consider themselves baseball savvy won't know this ...

"Say it ain't so, Joe!"

Good trivia question, Chuck, even if not hockey-related.

Wow can't even begin to believe that the game was thrown, not in a million years. Still, it's intriguing to think and I suppose, possible. Sorry, know even less about baseball  Watching that thread carefully...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

It would be interesting to find out if the decision to play this year's Winter Classic in Foxboro had anything to do with dissatisfaction with the set-up at Fenway. Agree with most of the others - been there, fun for the novelty of being in that neighborhood when it's winter, but novelty is the key word there, as repeated trips (I made a second) only remind you the first one wasn't all that great

My guess is that the league moved the event to Gillette because they can sell twice as many tickets.

Maybe we'll get to see an ESPN 30/30 special on this soon!

Chuck, read the CHN article. Much better. Ties to a gambling ring on the South Shore. One of those arrested was a former player for both BC and UMass. Intimations that former BU players are involved as well. Institutional control continues to be lacking at BU, even with Parker gone.

Wow ... I mean, who saw THAT coming? First time for everything, I suppose. :D ;)

Can't say I disagree with the lack of institutional control (another fun catch phrase from the Walshy days) slant on things. It certainly gives other programs a stick to try to beat Quinn/BU with going forwards. We'll see ...

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Sorry couldn't resist. Let the eye rolling begin!!:D Merry Christmas everybody! (Sung to the tune of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer)

You know Haydar and Hislop and Goumas and Willows...Downing and Souza Umile and Sislo...but do you recall..the most famous Wildcat of all?

Andrew the right shot phenom ...had a very potent stick! And if you ever saw it you would have to say that's sick!

All of the other D men... used to hate to see him skate...they never wanted Andrew..to play in any Hockey East games!

Then one big Hockey East game..Coach Umile came to say..Andrew with your stick so bright won't you win the game tonight?

Then all the Wildcats loved him..and they shouted out with glee! Andrew the right shot phenom...you'll go down in history!!!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

BUs Part 2 season thread has blown right by our Part 2 season thread in total posts. So, in an attempt to stimulate additional posts to our thread, I will begin with a belated "I am thankful" post, stimulated by HRs Chirstmas Carol. I will limit this post to one item, with anticipation that others can add more items. I am thankful that we have a first line that knows how to score goals so far this season.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

I am thankful we have 3 alumni coaches leading the way!

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

I'm thankful Tirone has evened out (a bit).

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part Two) - Managing Decreasing Expectations

Jeff Silengo got two goals for the Adirondack Thunder to beat the Manchvegas Monarchs last night.
