Like I have said many times many ways...we are all speculating fools in this board...sometimes I forget the human side of it and that...disappoints me. Sigh.

Ps Chuck I didn't say UNH was a stopping over point meant the OHL thing. And you know what? UNH BU BC I could go on are...stopping over points for these players committed to their dream of playing pro hockey.

Warren Foegele is a hard-working, committed teammate. The important decision to leave a college hockey program always involves on-ice and off-ice factors. Claiming that he left because he was upset over limited power play minutes or playing on the 3rd line with Vela-Eiserman and on the 4th line with Nazarian/Miller misses the mark.

I'm totally fine with accepting some speculation (very much including mine) has "missed the mark", but your clear implication here is you have actual insight into the reason(s) why he's actually left. I'm all ears (eyes)?

Maybe the other stuff has "missed the mark", but I've got to raise an obvious question about your on-the-surface very curious inclusion of the term "committed teammate" when he's just left his UNH teammates in the lurch.

I understand that. But if a player is more committed to a "dream" to the point where he can't fulfill his in-season commitments to his teammates, then I lose a ton of respect for that player. I'm not psyched when they leave early in between seasons - and that's just me perhaps - but logically, don't you have to ask "What has changed in the last 30 days?" that results in a player quitting/walking out on a program and his teammates? I think it's an absolutely fair question to ask, and without Coach Umile providing "cover" with an explanation, then these questions are only going to linger, and speculation like mine (and others) will only follow close behind.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part One) - Return of the "Champions of December"??

All very depressing. I think that Warren Foegele (34 g, 5 G+11 A = 16 pts) and Shane Eiserman (35 g, 4 G + 11 A = 15 pts) did well last season, scoring more points as freshmen than the three seniors on this year's first line have scored collectively in three seasons, and deserved to be the guts of the second line and second PP unit this season. Umile gave them ice time as freshman; I simply do not understand the flip flop this season.
Stat of the season Snively

So Foegele blocks out the noise, rationalizes that he had a decent freshman year and, with his potential, will play more minutes this year and in more significant roles. Instead, he sits there watching guys who couldn't even get ice time last year taking on roles that he knows he can play just because they are seniors.

AWFULLY difficult to think this wasn't a factor. Just another drawback to this senior charade...

Might there be other Foegele (contributing) factors? ... ... School being difficult? We just passed mid-terms.

Everyone seems to be assuming that it was on ice issues that prompted his departure. I too was wondering if academics might be involved.

Let me emphasize that I have no information that academics were involved at all.

But I could imagine where if he might be looking at being ineligible for the second semester and the OHL is calling, that he decides to take off.

He wasn't on the Hockey East All Academic team last year, so he was at least sub 3.0 gpa. NCAA rules on academic eligibility say that you must meet institution gpa requirements for graduation, which is cumulative gpa of at least 2.0 at UNH.

IDK... It just doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility that this was a factor.

Good points...something with validity to consider in the "who knows" dept!

It's speculation to say he left because he wasn't happy with his situation on the ice...just as its speculation to say he left because of "greener pastures".

Here's what's NOT speculation we have a big game tonight...Go 'Cats Beat Mack!

If the box score posted on HE is correct - and I'm not saying it is - still no McNicholas. And Clark in goal.

Well, Sonar said Eiserman would be the next to go.

Dressing 7 d-men...so apparently Boyd's another Kevin Kapstad

I know. I think he was smokin' sage when he posted that!

Some players figure out that The UNH Head Coach "plays favorites"
Foegele figured that out ( no power play time) ....Eiserman is the next to go ......
And it will continue with de commits. The barndoor is still wide open! Resources are also going to dry up.

No Marks (5 GP, +3, 4 A's) either...

Foegele leaves the team, Eiserman & Marks are benched, McNicholas stays in the seats (when he is CLEARLY far more talented than at least six of the players skating at forward tonight). Dick has lost his mind, or something has to be up...

My bet is those with options will take them. Fregona and Grasso come to mind.

This reminds me, it was Bomberhockey who had the cautionary post 6/1/15 before Borek left

Pretty funny. UNH Hockey is kind of run like a monarchy, isn't it? Charlie Holt (King George?), to Bob Kullen (Prince Edward to a degree, although under much more tragic circumstances, to Umile (playing the part of Queen Elizabeth?), to Souza (Prince William?). And behind the scenes we have Marty, no doubt a Margaret Thatcher type, pulling the strings.
Or pulling the strings at all certainly too late.
