UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part One) - Return of the "Champions of December"??

All you need to know is Coach (the whistling one) plans the line changes, and then implements those line changes.

Once in awhile (less than 10%?), it *might* be a player error. But twice ... in a row, end of game, etc.??

I'd love to be able to offer a defense for Coach on this one, but I can't. It really is simple as that, I'm afraid. :(

Perhaps the players have tuned out the whistling one? Caught the Union game on radio, but thankfully missed the UMass game. Glad that DU gave Clark a start, which must have been a difficult decision for him. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Anybody catch the DiSimone player out there last night for the Dutchmen? Bro of former UNh player Phil. Someone I know who went to the game met their dad who felt conflicted as he was always a UNH fan! Phil's playing somewhere isn't he? One of the pkayers I would have liked to have seen as a 'Cat...

ps Stole this from the U board :D Coach U's comments: "It's the little things" and I agree!

Thanks to the brave men of New Hampshire for freeing Hockey East from the tyranny of Dutch oppression. No longer will we labor to build windmills and tulip gardens for our Schenectady overlords! Dick Umile is the Simon Bolivar of hockey!

Speaking of repeating something, will we see AC in goal next weekend v Merrimack? Should be an interesting week of practice. I personally felt that DT just needed a break of sorts, and that AC, just needed a chance. How this will play out remains to be seen. Happy Clarky had a career high 34 saves and got back on the ice. That being said I personally am not ready to say he's our keeper, but both of them, could do nicely.

UNH now ranked 20th in PWR, just two notches below BC! Mac is even a higher PWR rank, so UNH needs not to blow this opportunity to get back into the NCAA post-season hunt.

I think we might need to give Clark a bit of a shot for a while, or at least a temporary rotation to sort things out. It's only four games, and with a different set of blue-liners, but DT's save % is down from .924 to .867, and GA up from 2.1 to 3.9, over last year's strong performance. And not exactly against world-beating competition.

Maybe it's mechanics, or a sophomore slump, etc., but a little competition for the spot might help before we launch into the meat of the HEA schedule.

2-2-1. Not where we want to be (or COULD be), but at least we're not 0-2-3 😜

That's pretty darn exciting news my friend! This weekend is huge. Psyched and I'm sure it's not lost on the coaching staff. Go 'Cats!!!

I couldn't let it lie. I'm feeling a little snarky today, given that it's Derby day (Man U/Man City at Old Trafford).

Crushes, plural. While he was right about Vecchione (another great call by Borek, deferring him!), his admiration of Rick Bennett is a bit overstated. Not that he is a bad or average coach -- he may well be above average -- but I think Union shows how difficult it is for an ECAC team to sustain and not be a "one off." Yale, that means you, too. (Providence will have a hard time getting a second, though its recruiting is 3rd best in HE, so they should be in, or on the cusp of, the NCAAs for the future). Union got a unique group in Gostebiere, Carr and Bodie (the latter two I wanted UNH to get) and now have solid recruits, but hardly elite kids that get them to the "near or in NCAAs" for the future.

Speaking of Carr, he was a top AJHL kid, and UNH needs to compete there. They did get Hardowa, Correale and (going back to ancient times) Poole and Dellezay. Let's see how UNH is able to compete for Biro, Mitchell and other Alberta kids, who remain uncommitted.

It's when the two big Manchester (England, not ManchVegas) teams (sides) play each other in soccer (football). Think BU-BC in hockey, only a lot more intense.

E.cat would have LOVED today's 0-0 tie (draw).

Schedule got shifted so my first Whitt trip will be Maine on the 5th! See you there!!

Assuming Umile would give a free-wheeling, high-scoring offensive talent like that a chance early in his career...

NOT!

Just can't get all that hot and bothered about a 0-0 draw. I'm sure there were some not so great SOG'S though:D

Re: UNH Wildcats 2015-2016 (Part One) - Return of the "Champions of December"??

I just signed in for the first thing in three years and read some of horrible things that are written about me. To recap for the uninitiated and to iterate for the thin-skinned:
Umile is the biggest impediment to the success of the UNH Hockey program. He can not coach a successful power play. He can not properly motivate players. He can not teach and develop players beyond a level of skill found in 1960's Melrose High School. The cause-and-effect relationship between the bridesmaid nature of Umile's program and the inability to recruit outstanding players can not be dismissed.
I was totally disgusted when Big Dick cashiered DeSmith based on unfounded accusations made by a girl friend- totally within his holier-than-thou attitude. I have never denigrated any of the players because the failure of the program always points back to Umile. Yah, $284,000/year, but do not forget the deferred income which I am sure he has had hidden.
I am amazed that people can not make the association between Umile's sartorial inadequacies and his failure to be respected as a coach. When I think of Jerry York in a jacket and tie taking notes, giving his players encouragement and constructive criticism, being the CEO of the team and removing uncertainty, and compare that to Umile, his head sticking out of his turtleneck with a big smirk above the crossed arms, never calling a timeout, just getting ready for the walk across the ice to the patronizing handshake with the opposing coach who has just beaten him.
Yah, Nifty and the rest of you, if you think I am offended by your junior high school insults and puerile remarks, don't get too impressed with yourselves. I am entitled to my opinions, which in this case are correct, and, no, I am not a BC fan; I am a UNH alumnus and fan, and I have the right to be appalled both by the level to which Umile has taken the program, and by the level to which the University had deified Umile.

This could have been a a lot of fun if you had picked a fight with BC, BU, or Maine fans, instead of your alma mater.
Kill joy! ;) :D
