Re: UNH Wildcats 2014/2015 - Wait 'Til Next Year!!!
By the way .... UConn has 9 freshmen and it looks like only 10 scholarship players. I actually hope they beat us twice in the next few months and a "walk-out" occurs at the Whitt
Connecticut 3 Union 2. After their win over BC, that finally set me off. Against my better judgment, and approaching my 9,000th post, I finally felt the need to point out the blatantly obvious. Here goes...
Once again this year we seem destined for mediocrity.
I went to my first UNH game 46 years ago. Since then, teams that didn't even have a Division 1 squad have won multiple National Championships. You know the list.
It's not high academic admission standards -- Harvard and Yale have won them. Cornell has won twice.
Want a clean program with high ethical and recruiting standards? Bill Cleary.
It's not location. Where would you rather live -- Durham, Orono, Duluth, Sault Ste. Marie...?
It's not the need to be in a hotbed of hockey interest. UNH is currently ranked 45th in the RPI, Alabama Huntsville is 47th. Nebraska Omaha is 4th
On top of all that, compare Umile's drawing power to McDonnell's.
I know we've come close a couple of times. But as the saying goes, "second is first loser" (ask Bills fans). BC fans on this Board -- 5 recent titles -- used to say that UNH stood for University of No Hardware.
Sorry to **** on everyone's Sunday morning. But at some point interest in the program, particularly among potential recruits, is going to evaporate completely. And that's tragic.
