Re: UNH Wildcats 2014/2015 - Wait 'Til Next Year!!!

I'll be happy if UNH gets anything out of this weekend against PC, even with the two home games. As HR has pointed out, the Friars have unfinished business with the 'Cats after last year's HE Semifinals, and I expect them to use their experience to grind down the young 'Cats. It really would be nice, though, if UNH had a breakthrough weekend. It will be interesting to see if/when that happens. I'm guessing it won't be against either PC or BC though. Hoping to sneak out early and make it to the rink tomorrow night. :)

Warren Foegele is listed as doubtful this weekend. Had experienced concussion-like symptoms.

Wow that's too bad...another weekend lost for him (and us). Hope he gets better! Unfortunately this stuff takes time. Go 'Cats!

So Snively65 just read where Bently's #1 PP is going against Harvards 1 PK...should be quite interesting! 😉

EGOL = Ex Goalie On the Lam?

I thought WIS had picked up a retainer at some point. Ah well.

I have no idea what kind of PC team will be showing up in Durham tonight. They seem to have played very well since that beatdown BU put on them on Halloween, but they're only 3-2. The PP is non-existent, but the defense and PK are much better.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2014/2015 - Wait 'Til Next Year!!!

Does anyone know why Saturday's game is at 5:00 (it says 7:00 on USCHO, but 5:00 on the team site). It seems like a ridiculous time to schedule the game; right during the football game with Maine, which is televised, and too early to eat beforehand.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2014/2015 - Wait 'Til Next Year!!!

he also reminisces about his fab D pair of last season (Big K and TvR)

This is the problem with the UNH PP. There is so much focus on back to the point and shoot from there. That leaves too much standing around and the box becomes setup and the PP easy to defend. Occasionally UNH gets the PK scrambling but the PP isn't setup they look like they slow the play down and get reset - hence the PK resets - and a scoring opportunity is gone in exchange for zone time and passing the puck around the outside.

From what I can gather from press conferences, and, watching the games of course, UNH's PP mantra is "pucks to the net boys" no matter how they get there. Basically it's "easier" to send them to the net from the point (many teams seem to utilize this) but like you point out, easy to defend coz you know where it's coming from and the reset is what it is. It's a very slow pace PP and it's always been that way, at least, in the very short time I have been observing the team... To score on Mr. Jon Gilles (like all goalies) you have to move him he's too good dead on. I have lots of respect for his game; hopefully we can find a way to beat it tonight (and Sat). And, I should probably let you hockey pros analyze our game ;) just my personal observations from where I sit.

OK...from what I was told when I called the Whitt box office to confirm game time, is that it's "kids day" at the Whitt (whatever that is) and they wanted to have enough time for families? Also, there's a men's bball game at 7, and other stuff going on so it seemed like the most "logical" time to have the game...

Yes, my first trip to Bright tonight; will be at the Whitt tomorrow night.

I will be happy if the Cats can score a PPG or two this weekend, and agree that it will be interesting to see if Bentley can score PPGs against a superb PK.

Thanks for this heads up, Catsfan and HR. I would have missed the first couple of periods, as I am sure many will.

Couldn't make ice in the cow pasture tonight? That's quite unforgivable and unforgettable given the cold temps. :D:p:eek: Guess Lake Whitt is past its prime :)

Yep every dog...has his day 😉. First the score board ... Hey it's going around on FB that the techs actually drilled into the refrigeration pipes accidentally while setting the goal posts but that is just a rumor at the point!

e.cat didya drive down from Maine? And who might you be directing your rath toward? Could it be...BS35 or whatever the current number is? 😉 Thinking of our pal Snively65 who is no doubt suffering through a 4-0 Harvard v Bentley game...

Being down 4-0 now, any Bentley PPG(s) will likely be meaningless, and even less likely a GWG. :D :(

Maybe they will pull out a *win* on the SOG's. :p
