UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread (Part 2)

I'm pretty sure UNH does own the tiebreaker with Me and PC so,

IF UNH GETS 3 PTS VS. MC:

SCENARIO 1

NU/BU SPLIT---NU 24 PTS

ME/PC SPLIT---ME 23 PTS
PC 22 PTS
UNH GETS THE #4 SEED

SCENARIO 2

NU SWEEPS BU---NU 26 PTS
ME SWEEPS PC---ME 25 PTS
PC 20 PTS
UNH GETS THE #5 SEED

SCENARIO 3

NU SWEEPS BU---26 PTS
ME/PC SPLIT---ME 23 PTS
NU 22 PTS
UNH GETS THE #4 SEED

SCENARIO 4

NU SPLIT---NU 24 PTS
ME SWEEPS PC---ME 25 PTS
PC 20 PTS
UNH GETS THE #5 SEED

I think I've done this correctly. Please correct me if I am wrong on this

In your scenario 3, you mean PC ends up with 22 points, not NU.

I think that your scenario 2 is the most likely, so not good having the Cats heading to Alfond.

While I am the last one who should be commenting on these predictions (and I do appreciate them!) I don't think anyone wants to play at the Alfond! But while I don't have a crystal ball I have a difficult time believing Maine will sweep PC (even tho PC has had it's share of ups and downs in their season as of late). But what I do know is that UNH must sweep MC and that's the long and short of it in this newbie head of mine! Hockey sure is a volatile sport I've discovered :o Come on 'Cats...you know what you have to do!

In the words of the (late) human lightning rod Al Davis ... "Just win, baby".

It would be nice to see UMaine drop a point to assure UNH of QF home ice too. :)

Yes. PC 22 pts. I agree with Ref. I think ME/PC split. Thanks for the correction Snives:)

Yes it would Chuck! I'm on school vacation week but looking forward already to my first eva trip to the Mack this Friday! "Just win, baby" indeed! :D

Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread (Part 2)

The 'cats need to take care of business against an inferior opponent and the rest will sort itself out. Regardless of where we finish in the standings, the 0 for Vermont weekend...

Yes that Vt. weekend hurt...as did losing to Harvard...as did not getting points on the Union weekend...injuries to two top players.. Sweeping MC tho as you say is the task at hand...staying in the present boys! Let's go! As Chuck would say just "win baby, win" :D

Wonder if our man with the pulse on the team C-H-C has heard? ;) They (UNH) has press conferences usually on Wednesday so maybe we'll know by then...here's hoping!!! :)

Ironic how like last year, PC may again control fate of our Cats this year. But, unlike last year, the Friars have had a lousy second half, going 4-6-3, including games against a lot of mediocre teams. They have not been able to score goals all year, except for 10-4 win over AIC, 7-2 win over CC, and 5-4 over UML, by far their best game of the season. Maine on the other hand has been better at home (12-1-0) than they have been bad on the road (1-10-3); by comparison we can only wish that our Cats played better than 0.500 at Lake Whitt. The only time that Maine lost at Alfond this season was 4-3 against the other Cat(amont)s way back on November 9th; they also beat BC 5-1 at Alfond on November 23rd. But, I agree, all is moot if our Cats do not sweep in North Andover this weekend.

I started following the team right after the Maine game and when they went into HE playoffs v PC. Good stats there Snively! PC has a lot on the line up there; God speed to the Friars as they are certainly going to need it! That is ONE place I wouldn't want to be placing my entire season on in a "one and done" tournament...(shhhh...not too loud as the Hockey Gods are listenin'! )

news on TVR and Downing for this week .

Maybe on tonight's "Coaches Show" that is on at 7:00 that question will be asked and answered...to listen go to unh's athletic site and it's easily accessed. Justin Agosta and coach U are the guests and they usually are on first ...

Working to get it finished by supper time. It's the beginning of playoff season for several recruits.

Did you mean suppah time?;)

Ill never forget when I worked for NH DOT on I-89, summer before my freshman year in college, when we broke for dinnah. I'm not kidding but we had dinnah break at 7:30 am:)

Re: UNH Wildcats 2013-14 Season Thread (Part 2)

Dinnah was at 7:30am, lunch was at noon and suppah was at 5pm or 6pm!!;)
